Hi Björn,

In order to help you out I would need some information about your system; Just press Windows key + R and type "dxdiag" let it run for a little while and press Save Information. This will save all relevant information about your system. It would also be helpful for me to see the log the game creates when it attempts to start, please find said log in %MY DOCUMENTS%\My Games\GoatSim\GoatGame\Logs\Launch.log
Grab both textfiles and post them in this thread using pastebin.com

Several errors in your log.

Think the easiest one to address for now is whether you meet the minimum requirements or not. The minimum requirements are:

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7, Windows 8
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon X2, or equal at 2.0 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: DirectX 9.0c-compatible, SM 3.0-compatible, 256MB VRAM
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 2 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compatible, 16-bit

If you are not sure if you meet them give me the system information and I will be able to tell: Press Windows key + R and type "dxdiag" let it run for a little while and press Save Information. This will save all relevant information about your system. Then post that textfile in this thread using pastebin.com

No I need the whole thing. You need to click save information, find that textfile then go to www.pastebin.com and use that website for showing me the textfile. That website will give you a link that you can post in this thread.. Thanks :)

okay you do meet the minimum requirements.

So to the other errors:

1. Error_RemoteDesktop=This game cannot run with 3D graphics over a Remote Desktop connection.

Are you running over remote desktop?

2. Error_ParentalControls=The current level of parental controls do not allow you to run this game.

I haven't seen this error before, but you might want to check if parental control is enabled.

3. Error_FloatingPointBlendingRequired=Your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets (D3DFMT_A16B16G16R16F), which is required to run this game. Exiting...

To resolve this one try changing a setting in the ini files. Go to Documents\My Games\GoatSim\GoatGame\Config and open the GoatSystemSettings.ini change the FloatingPointRenderTargets=True that is in the section of [SystemSettings]. Change it to "FloatingPointRenderTargets=False".

Try and resolve these errors first and see if it runs then, if it doesn't then show me the log it creates then, again using www.pastebin.com

I changed to windowed mode in the "DefaultSystemSettings". This game does not work with boot parameters. It's a big minus for this game...
Commands such as not working:
-windowed
-width
-hight
-freq

So I realized that the errors you posted above are not actually from your launch.LOG but from launch.INT which is the localization file. If you could provide your LAUNCH.LOG file found in %MY DOCUMENTS%\My Games\GoatSim\GoatGame\Logs\Launch.log then I will be able to help you, assuming that swithcing to windowed mode didnt solve the issue for you?

i'm so sorry, but launch.log does not exist.

fair enough.

I've seen a few people with similar specs to yours, some sort of integrated graphics card often seen in laptops. I think the issue is that the game attempts to boot up in a resolution that your hardware isn't happy about. There are several approaches to resolving this. If you navigate to My Games\GoatSim\GoatGame\Config and find the file called GoatSystemSettings.ini and open that with any text editing program.

In that file you can change the following line FullScreen=true to FullScreen=false and see if the game runs then, if it does you can fiddle with the resolution in the options menu and then enable fullscreen again after.

Alternatively you can set the resolution manually in that same file directly if you locate the variables ResX and ResY and set them to something sensible.
