Frankly, I think it's genius. I was blissfully confused when I started the update for the first time. It is also pretty entertaining to watch people struggle with the same confusion and question the game, its authenticity, their senses, and god.
I don't think you sound stupid. I think your bewilderment is supposed to be part of the experience.

No. If you turn on airplane mode the chat and people will still be there.
With proximity chat, and different game modes.
I do admit there should be some form of online multiplayer...
Screenshot? ^^
The patch is now downloading, so can't play.

i completly agree with this. I honestly thoguht it was real, but after a while, I figured it had to be fake. But then I had someone whisper me about joining them and after seeing the spam chat, I remembered why I quit MMO games. And no OP, you are not stupid. I think many people were fooled at first as well.
Watching goats rubberband across the same ten feet of space constantly, watching them camp the demon spawn point in Old Goat Mountain (just like people camping rare field spawns in real MMOs), PKer sheep swarming anyone who enters Twistram and camping the battlefield just past the Gold Fields (where robots owned by gold farmers farm money endlessly)... it's all eerily accurate to real players in real MMOs. My hat's off to Coffee Stain Studios - when they do a parody, they do it right.
