Steam Remote Play Doesn't Work
Me and my friend both love Goat Simulator, and we we're sad when there was no online options, but then I came across Steam Remote Play. Out of immaculate excitement I called my friend and we tried it out. First I started Goat Sim, opened Steam Overlay, right clicked my friend, and selected "Remote Play Together". My friend got the invite, joined, and for a couple of seconds I could see his status set to "Playing Goat Simulator", but then it went back to just online. In the same moment my friend gets a message saying it can't connect to remote computer, without any error codes to help either. I troubleshooted for a couple of days now and I still can't find an answer. We tried turning on and off steam remote play from settings, we updated steam client, reinstalled Goat Simulator, even tried different games. I'm not sure if I'm just missing something, like if I need to port forward or something, but if anyone has any solutions, would make my day.

remote play works by one computer sending signals and copying the signals of the other computer to sync up a singleplayer game, however, Gaot Simulator's Co-Op works only by receiving a second signal from one computer, this means that by just using two computers for remote play the game perceives the other computer's input as the host computer's input. To fix this you'd have to get a second input on the second device so that the host computer reads the secondary input as another input and not its own.

TL:DR, if you're hosting the game your friend has to plug a controller into his computer while he's on remote play with you so he can join the game

He did, he has an Xbox One controller I believe. Something else to note is he's on Windows 11 and I'm on 10.

No, that was a long time ago, we thing it had something to do with his internet, it wasn't the best haha. Just recently me and my friend did actually remote play the game and had some issues, turns out I had the option on where if you launch a game with a controller connected it uses big picture mode overlay, which doesn't have an option for remote play, and also his controller just didn't work on *his* computer, so I managed to configure it where I used controller as player 1 and he used mouse and keyboard as player 2. This time I was on Linux (Arch), and he was on Windows 10.
i use arch btw
