Leveled Buildings

So, I take great pains to design my studio well, but now it appears that to get to the better buildings means destroying the old ones and building new ones that have a larger footprint.

This significantly disturbs any plans one might make. Am I missing something?

not really missing anything no it is as you say the higher the level of building the bigger it gets . The best advice I can give you is to make a Creative Mode game to see exactly how much space you'll need for each building and how many amenities you'll need

Yeah, things evolve and change over time in the game. We feel that having to plan ahead and occasionaly redesign stuff is important for the tycoon genre. Best case what we are hoping to achieve with this is that on the first playthrough the studio built by a new player is a mess. And on subsequent playthroughs things get better.
