Just played the Demo
And it's OK. Obviously it's a bit rough, it's a pre-release demo after all, but the potential is there. Some suggestions I have:

1. Be able to hire any candidate for any position. If I like the look of one of the maintenance workers, let me drop them in the audition and see if they have any hidden talent or just cast them as an extra.
2. Separate maintenance into construction (building and maintenance) and cleaners.
3. Drop an extra into a supporting role. While this will give the movie an initial quality hit, it will give the extra a bigger boost in skill.
4. Hiring extras on as a full star.
5. Add an option to stop going into additive scene (or whatever it was called). I built two sets to close to each other and as I'm trying to zoom in and what the filming on one set, I kept getting pulled into the other set. It was very annoying.
6. On the character's right-click info page, add their gender. No offense intended, but on some of the models, it was hard to tell if it was a man or a woman and sometimes the name didn't help clear up the confusion.
7. Less fat people. During my run through the demo I would say about 3/4 of the characters that showed up were on the larger side.
8. An early option to alter their appearance, at least what they are wearing. A decent percentage of characters had the police looking hat. I'd like an option to take them off if I don't like them.

Hi Tilarium, thanks for your feedback, we will use it in further development.
A few answers:
1) We get this a lot so we will improve interoperability of roles.
2) There are plenty of roles already in the game and there will be even more with the full game so to make it a little less complicated we merged those two roles together and we will likely keep it that way.
3) same as 1
4) same as 1
5) It's already there, in the GUI menu on bottom right. Other than that, we will improve the detection logic so that it doesn't happen that easily on acciddent.
6) We are still working on visuals, including characters. However the gender information is not relevant to anything in game so we'd rather have less UI indicators that are not important. Though if more people will end up telling us the same, we will reconsider.
7) Could be some rng weirdness, we see them maybe 1/4 of the time, probably even less.
8) In the full game there will be a building where you can change appearance of your characters. At the same time, random generation will made to ignore costumes.

7 is COMPLETELY justified.
Possibly your version of the demo is different than what you uploaded because a friend streamed the demo and there was an excessive amount of larger people.
Not saying they can't be in the game, but nearly the entire cast was plus sized.
It was very odd.
Glad we weren't the only ones to see it.

Was watching a streamer play this and 75% of the people standing in line to be hired were female. I have absolutely no problem with every position on a film set being either male or female, but the streamer had a huge problem finding a production company that wasn't majorly skewed towards female. Hollywood has changed in the last decade, but not THIS much. lol. You'd think the game would roll 50/50, but this is clearly not the default setting. Plus, as one of the comments above mentions, it's hard to tell the difference between a male and female sometimes, due to clothing, hair and style. I mean, this is a sim right?

It is purely random and what you describe still sounds quite random. But I agree we should take a look at our random generator to make it more uniform, so still somewhat random but it tries to trends towards values that werent picked recently.
