Personally, I also hated the ending in Coteries, though it was clear it was getting meta about the fatalism of the jyhad / vampire politics. The only winning move is not to play. I think things got a bit better with Shadows of New York. I loved the "bad ending" and the echoes of Spike Lee's "25th Hour" rant/teardown of NYC and its cast of poseurs. I prefer that Julia, flaming out rather than collapsing into a black hole of obtenebration, and enjoy the thought of her Karen of a sire wrestling with the embarrassment of convening a Court of Blood over her own runaway progeny. This one, honestly, might be the best of all, but it's all still pretty fresh.
Not quite as good as Book of Hungry Names, but some of the better white wolf adaptations, this and Shadows.
