Save System..
Does the game save after reaching a checkpoint letting me leave the game and return to that checkpoint?
or only save after i finish a level?

cuz i got about 3/4 through with prologue..passed several checkpoints and had to leave
when i returned i was back to the start of the prologue

is that normal or is my game glitched?

I suggest just doing Alt F4 if you need to take a break

when you reload the game it will ask you if you want to reload the checkpoint

If you close the game manually you will lose the checkpoint, strange I know

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it... I don't think the Prologue has any checkpoints (the shops don't count) at all. I remember quitting out of the Prologue when I first loaded up the game and it started back at the beginning of the mission when I loaded back in. So I'm gonna say that it's normal for that one mission to do that... and it has always been like that ever since the original one, too.

Honestly, you get used to those old save systems when you've played a lot of them. :lolFumi:

i tried ALT F4 during prologue and it saved my progress
when i returned to game i was given option to resume at checkpoint

Thanks to Kiteless for the workaround!

Yep. The RePOP doesn't hide its age for sure.

The original release is also like this.

The game has two checkpoints. One in the level purely for when you are in the level to save the items and currency you have as you progress. If you leave the level, you lose that checkpoint. The other checkpoint is the level you've reached. i.e. how many FULL levels you have completed. If you quit a level, the only checkpoint you have is the level itself. It's baffling that people cannot grasp this concept given level based games usually don't let you back out fully and then also start part way through having made the kinds of changes that many games let you do outside of the levels. It'd be like starting up a level in Mario and getting to quit and start again with all the powerups you got from another level. To me, given I play games like this often, this isn't shocking. To people who are not familiar with games that aren't the modern open world drop in drop out style, yeah, this is how games were back in the day. You gotta beat the whole level to save.

I would agree if levels weren't so long, besides, there are checkpoints but they don't work the way they should

No, the checkpoints are working exactly as intended since that's how it was designed when it was first released. I know that's hard to hear but again, the game is exactly the same structurally as it was 13 years ago. Once again, this isn't a modern AAA slopfest drop in drop out open world game. Different era, different gameplay design. Hell, there are games coming out NOW that usethe design philosophy present in Lollipop Chainsaw. There are full on cutscenes in modern games that last longer than stages in Lollipop Chainsaw, so I really don't think length is at all an issue.
