Wasn't this announced as a remake?

Well, I love the original game, I got all achievements and even more back then in my 360. I'm not against remasters at all, and less when they make some games avaiable in more platforms like PC when there wasn't any before. Thing is, I remember when this was announced, that it was gonna be a remake. I remember clearly because of the concern of them not being faithful to the original because current day and such... but now I check it and is just a remaster with the only new thing is the new ost for license problems?
And just to be clear, I'm not mad, not angry, not dissapointed not anything... I'm just weirded out since now I feel like I misremember or I just suffered a Mandela effect...

IIRC they announced it as a remake but the included description implied it'd be a closer to a remaster. Eventually they announced that they "decided it'd be better for players" (or something like that) to make is 'just' a remaster.
So I'm guessing the 'Re-Pop' thing was always the plan, and were a bit...ambitious....in what they were going to present it as.
