LeMat revolver
I'd like a replacement for the Colt Walker with a more special weapon that is not one of those Western cliches - the LeMat revolver. I noticed that the Walker has gone through an update: new reloading animation, cocking sound, and firing sound (which isn't there anymore! Why?!). Now the gun has a 9-bullet cylinder with one 20-gauge barrel underneath the barrel of the revolver. So here are the features of the gun: it is made out of Civil War-quality steel, has nine rounds of ammo compared to other revolvers, it has the same power as the Peacemaker whle the shotgun is powerful enough to be tied with the Derringer, has the highest accuracy out of all revolvers in the game slightly more than the Schofield, and it's a golden box weapon. It is reloaded like this: put the percussion cap on the nipple, paper cartridge, and then ram down with a metal ramrod (not a jointed one because it goes off after firing the gun). Basically, realism to balance things out. Also, make the gun sound like the Colt Walker did before its new sound was edited back to the old one (PLEASE). I even mentioned all this in my review for the game. It may be a lot of work but trust me, it's going to be worth it. Take your time and like the Remington 1858 and all the updates, so please add this to your future updates and get it done ASAP. Thanks.

If any weapon need to be added, it would need to mix it up, I'm sure Nimrod is already working on something along those line. Adding a new revolver (we already have plenty of those) in the middle of other revolver would be utterly pointless. If you truly want such a thing done, you would need to do the work yourself and prove it's worth in terms of gameplay to R_Yell.

The game could containt every variant of revolver but having too many wouldn't improve anything in any meaninful way.

That also works hopefully the company brings back the Walker's updated firing sound and reworks the reload animation to make it look even more realistic
In what way would you make it more realistic? I already did everything I could possibly think of in the sequencing to cut down on time without giving a false impression of how a percussion revolver works (so that it does not change too much from the former version of the gun, thus changing gameplay dynamics).

With these things, you can't think in absolute terms but must adapt the modeling and animation to make compromise with the game engine's limitations - the animations for example are not dynamic in any sense, so one has to consider that. They are merely static sequences that are made to flow into eachother.

A bit of deeper explanation of the things that have to be considered:
For example, usually the caps on a cap and ball revolver are fragile enough that they just explode upon impact - but that is not a possible option, because the model in the animation is not dynamic, but always returns to its initial state as soon as it returns to the idle animation. So with the Walker, the only option that both respects mechanical authenticity and works seamlessly is to make the character remove the cap manually and replace it instantly. Same with the cylinder rotation after cocking the gun, the cylinder only rotates in one animation, then immediately snaps back -60° when it returns to idle, it's just not noticeable because the change is immediate - this for example is not a problem for any other revolver, because the faces of the cylinder look identical no matter in what position it is turned - the same cannot be said for the Walker, which has a unique roll-stamped pattern on the cylinder that looks unique in every position. So with this I had to make a choice, make the animation unnoticeable seamless by having identical looking faces, or opting for having the roll-stamping which is quite a characteristic feature of the authentic gun - I opted for the latter.
That's also the reason why there is the manually turning of two positions of the cylinder after every reloaded shot, so that the reloading is logically consistent and there is always a bullet in the chamber behind the barrel after the weapon get's drawn to full-cöck in the end-of-reload sequence, whether or not one reloads after one shot or after gun is completely empty - this is entirely due to aforementioned limitations and the fact that the game doesn't know how much you want to reload, you have to make it work logically in this limited static animation framework)

note:
Forum doesn't let me write ♥♥♥♥, lol
so I used the umlaut "ö" as a substitute for "o"
I didn't say for it to be a whole lot realistic. I'm just saying for it to be as realistic as possible. The company could release a sequel of this game that has the animation up to date

I'd go to the wrokshop and try to make new guns for this game but the workshop doesn't say how
Just a thing, "the company" is mister Rebel with a few volunteers helping with some assets (like mister Hempel making some animations or some other people making maps).

This is a "fan project" of sorts and makes no money.
More than just an indie game huh?

Less, actually.

By the way there was some guide on how mods should be made, can't find it right now though.

Guide was made by rebel but it assumes you know how to make assets and such, for that part I would look on youtube how to make models animations and such.

And also Elise made a usefull thread in the workshop sub-forum for ressources and such.

This entire game is a Cliche, all about the west, it would be a sin to make is a game to take seriously.

I'm not saying to make a game to take seriously, just something special. To be honest with you, I don't know. Like someone could have made a team based multiplayer irst person shooter set in the civil war and this lets the player experience the war and weapons of the time

What I'm wondering is why Steam doesn't make it clear on how to access the workshop where you can make your own things

if you don't know how to edit the fof directory files, then having "access" to the workshop won't help you. The guide just tells you how to upload your items to the workshop.

If any weapon need to be added, it would need to mix it up
A 9-round revolver plus a shotgun shell is quite different.

I made a topic about this a few years ago. When the subject of dual-wielding came up, with the issues of the shotgun functioning, one player had a good suggestion.

Nimrod Hempel Ⓢ eredeti hozzászólása:
You won't have to bother with dual wielding, the LeMat was also produced as a pistol carbine with a fixed stock. That would eliminate that problem.

A revolving carbine would actually be really nice. The zoom function of a rifle could be retained if firing both barrels were done by M1, tapping to fire the bullets, or holding it for half a second to fire the buckshot.

Speaking of dual-wielding, if that was the case of using two LeMat revolvers, you could just rapidly click on either of the mouse buttons twice for flipping the lever for the shotgun barrel or the cylinder. The same can be done when only using one of them in one hand.
