Mobile, possibly someday.
I know. My only other worry is lag really. When I play flahs games on firefox, they lag. When I play them on chrome they don't. But since this is a flash port, I know it will lag much like Binding of Isaac does(when there are too many bullets/monsters on the screen). I just don't know to what extent it will. So really I am struggling with do I want to support him on Steam, or on Kongregate?
Haven't seen that many complaints about lag in the tech thread and forum in general, so you might take that as a good sign. Tbh it's just $12, you can have indigestion from two McD meals and that would waste more money.
but anyways to give you an idea, for my 2.8Ghz processor and 6GB ram (this game doesn't use the graphics card I don't think) i'm playing on medium quality on large window(not fullscreen) with all the animations on with no lag at all.
even at the 1280x800 mode (fullscreen) it doesn't lag (or I don't notice it)
If you do go "free" You can gate the premium stuff behind a IAP and perhap run some adds between "x" number of screen transitions while traveling around in the overworld. You could probably also get away with currency IAP and maybe even booster packs (cheap ones like a dollar or two) for consumables plus some of the stat boosters). One big thing to note, a lot of the IOS users HATE "Energy Systems" I.E. timers that gate them from playing more.
If you go the "Premium" route, you will get significantly less downloads . The difference could be between a few thousand and a few tens or even hundred of thousand depending on how popular the app is. Pricing wise, you could probably sell it for 2 or 3 dollars with premium content as an additional IAP or you could go super premium infinity blade style for like 7 bucks. Some developers like 2k have you pay 20 bucks for XCOM but that is an actual legit AAA title.
I'm sure you already did your own research on the subject, but if you do decide to go mobile with EBF4, I strongly urge you to go the "free" route and ingratiate yourself among IOS websites such as Toucharcade and several others.
