Truth be told, I've put in about 30 hours on newgrounds and another 30 hours on kong without ever getting around to beating the game. So if my time is to be believed (discounting any issues of falling asleep at the computer) one playthrough takes about 30 hours.
But again appreciate the detailed information.
Fun fact: on a forum I was on in the past, an admin got all prissy and mad (I admit, for legitimate reasons) and wordfiltered my username to make it display as something rather insulting. (totally not cool)
Wow are you serious? That's bullcrap
I did epic on a fresh start too, doable, but it became a lot more luck based, and since I'm the kind of person who'd win a negative jackpot if there ever was one, it reallly sucked for me. YMMV
A simple example from EBF3 (haven't really found a difficulty wall of the same kind in EBF4) is when you first meet the Monoliths in the Snow area. You build up your Fire skills (because snow) and if I remember correctly, the Monoliths are immune to fire, atleast they're pretty damn resistant to it. So yeah. It's basically an entire boss fight in itself the first time. But then you know they're coming up on later playthroughs so you get Earth/Bomb/any healing/support skills you deem necessary and you can breeze through it (unless you're on Epic).
Btw, the Monoliths in EBF3 are WAY stronger than the ones in EBF4. I didn't break a sweat fighting the Monoliths in EBF4 (Epic) while I still need a few attempts for the first one in EBF3.
