Does Battle Mountain Really Have to Reset?
It's an optional area that takes a really long time to complete. Beating the final boss instantly forces New Game+ (which they don't tell you beforehand), so you have to climb all the way back up again.

Is this necessary? Pretty much just lost my will to continue since I was thinking I would beat the final boss before doing the boss rush challenges. Apparently that's not how it goes. All key items are taken away when you restart the game, so I can't just climb straight back up, either.

Not cool, man.

Why not just save before you fight the final boss (or me) ^_^ and save your new game in a separate save slot. Then you can always return to your first game and continue working on Battle Mountain if you so choose. It doesn't take long to complete the game again, however if you wanna do it (to possibly earn more achievements) just play on Easy difficulty.

It takes a very long time to complete the game again if you're like me and tried to get as much as possible before finishing. I saved my game before fighting the final boss, but that was in case I got wiped. It was a lengthy fight that gave a lot of SP/EXP, I don't want to lose that progress.

I don't want to use a separate save just for Battle Mountain since there are more chests at the top that are only unlocked after winning the challenge battles. Whatever is in those boxes won't carry over to my after-boss save, so I would just have to go back and beat the final boss again anyway. I'm not playing just for achievements, I'm playing to actually complete the game.

I essentially just wasted a lot of time. I either fight her over again, or beat the entire game over again. Neither would be an issue if Battle Mountain didn't reset at all. The area levels with you and it's an end-game area, it makes no sense that you would lose progress in it for any reason.

Edit: I was an idiot and saved after NG+ started. I'm boned. :greenwizard:

You keep all items recieved from battle mountain, but yeah I just beat the game, after only having the challenges left. Saved the file when I started round 2, only to find battle mountain reset and I can't get back up to finish those challenges xD

I feel your pain :)

if you're trying to get all the achievements you wouldn't be able to do the battle mountain boss rush battles on epic your first run, it's intense!!
not saying it's impossible but very very hard to pull off (and a lot of luck) on your first playthrough.
I did all of battle mountain and everything else on epic my first run and I hit a wall literally at the peak of it, I had no choice but to NG+
the (only) guide on steam recommends being level 50 before taking on the battle mountain boss rushes on epic
I haven't even begun to dent this game lol...

I did everything on Normal my first run just because of how the difficulty modes are set up. Besides achievements, playing on a higher difficulty doesn't seem to net you any more rewards, so I was saving Epic for later playthroughs.

As I said before, I wasn't doing Battle Mountain for achievements, I was doing it for completion. There's a game outside of achievements, ya know? :P

Edit: I know Matt can't somehow retroactively give me my Battle Mountain progress back, and I don't really think he'll change the game so the area doesn't reset; I'm not sure it's that easy.

But at least put a warning somewhere!

agreed a warning would be nice

Set on easy and steamroll through everything in mere minutes. No reason to do it on anything but easy after the first completion, no exp rewards, nothing.

Except bosses still need to be beaten on Epic to get their achievements.

Your point?

Most of the real length of the game is in the boss fights. I can skip all quests, chests, and do all normal monsters on Easy, I'll still spend a hefty amount of time killing the bosses, including the Battle Mountain bosses, on Epic.

You seem to think I could somehow go from start to Godcat in less than hour.
Rocket2049 Jul 6, 2014 @ 7:08pm
i did the 2nd run all the way to godcat on easy in under 2 hours, I wasn't even rushing.
that was skipping everything I didn't need all the way to godcat.
if you add fighting all the bosses on epic it won't take that much longer especially with everything at your disposal already, skills, equips, stat increases, etc.
