How do you run in exit 8?

As the title said, how do you run/dash? I can't escape the flooding water without running, but I don't know what the controls are to run.

Have your keyboard missing or broken Shift key?

Try to escape from the water by walking backwards, while still making eye contact. Not sure if works, but it could be.

stand your ground, the water will sense that you don't fear it and will recede
