Enemies and how to deal with them
Thought I'd make a quick note on some enemies and how I've learned to deal with them. Any tips on other enemies would be appreciated! This is for a melee build, but feel free to say how you've dealt with enemies.

Hounds/Dogs: When they charge just hold up your shield, they fall down, easy kill. Shield charge (running and holding your shield up button) also works but sends them flying away and actually makes it harder to follow up.

Assassin type (buckler and sword): shield charge works really well, as does baiting out their combo and backstabbing. I haven't mastered the parrying timing with these guys. Beward, they've parried my attacks before lol

zombies/infected human things: two ways, either circle when they do their combo and backstab, or shield charge and hit.

Rhogar Knight (the smaller ones with a shield and sword): no perfect strategy yet I've found. You can shield charge then follow up if you have a quick weapon, but with a greatsword it's hard to get a hit and not receive on in return that way. Other wise you can circle around them and wait for them to plant their shield down then backstab. If you time your swing correctly you can hit then when they charge at you. Parrying also can work.

Rhogar shield knights ( the huge ones with the massive shield): Impossible at first until you realize that they're most vulnerable when they are charging at you. I use a heavy swing with a greatsword and time it so I hit them just as they're getting ready to hit me. Still haven't found a take zero damage method though. Parrying would work I think, but I haven't mastered it yet.

Giant Spider thing: will update when I actually have the nerve to take one on and figure it out

Giant treant thing: Rage spell with a greatsword seem to work very well. Get in close to them and circle around and swing away when they attack. If you use rage, you won't have to worry about their healing as your greatsword will do way more damage than they can heal. If you aren't using a greatsword/weapon, you just need to be more patient and wait for your moments to take a hit or two.

smaller archers: shield charging works really well, as well as backstabs/ jumping heavy attacks(forward hold run click heavy attack) fairly straight forward.

fat archer: I've started using the jumping heavy attack then follow it up with one more normal attack then back off as he'll use a 2 hit melee combo. jump back in, repeat till dead.

mage: kind of annoying. I used prayer with mixed success, but to be honest, rage seemed to work well. Any tips for a melee user would be appreciated.

unarmored greatsword healing knights: straight forward when you find their pot that is healing them. bait out combo, circle, hit/backstab, repeat. Don't bother blocking, their combo will break your guard (maybe if you have an ungodly amount of energy). rolling attacks can work as well.

These are the only enemies I've faced up to this point.

How do you guys deal with the enemies?

Mages in Rhogar realm: use the stealth ability and one shot those punks. Dont forget to dodge away like hell after they die. Watch out for their reflect spell-- have to wait for it to cool down. Winged shield with magic def runes works well also.

Ghosts in Rhogar realm: Stain was the only weapon that worked for me. NG+ they are a real pain.

With a strength or faith build dealing with the large shield knights is easy once you get a stronger weapon, you can do a sprinting jumping attack to break their guard then follow it up with normal attacks. Cleric Hammer + Flawless Luck Rune can roflstomp them. For strength build you can just use something like My Axe + Flawless Luck Rune.
