I think Spike is bugged.

As in the greathammer named Spike I got early on in the game.
Whenever I try to swing it one-handed, my guy can't even lift the thing off of his shoulder. It swings normally when 2-handing it though. And I know my strength is high enough, I'm at 16 and the requirement is 12. I've been using Persistance without this problem and the strength requirement for that one is even higher.

for me it happens with 3 weapons all strength types Spike, Lost Pike, and Uras. the ones you don't have are polearms with a sword like blade. going on all 3 is has nothing to do with stats or the direct weight. my guess is it has something to do with weight distribution of the weapon making it hard to properly use one handed. although why these examples and not some of the axes is beyond me

I have the same issue. I have enough strength to wield the thing easily... but it doesn't work one-handed.

As per the in game tip, some weapons can not be 1-handed. Don't think you can 1-hand greathammers or greatswords. Spike is a greathammer.

Can't use it 1 handed. Just like polearms and some other specific weapons.
