Invisible body = poor game design "feature"
I find this to be highly annoying and serves no purpose. If you are in a corridor next to an enemy your body disappears. if you are in an arena next to a wall your body disappears. and if you are moving or attacking or getting hit, you just don't know where you wind up, when you are recovering and who you are attacking. This is just a horrible design that makes those encounters unnecessarily difficult and annoying. It sounds like someone thought "well, if we make the body disappear we can move the camera closer to the wall". NO, JUST NO. Not in a melee game. In a 3rd person shooter, fine but here, NO.

but is it a horrible design? should you fight in a corner or by a wall? i guess its to each thier own, but i wouldn't want to do that in any game, no matter what the screen showed. open space, dodge. if there isnt open space, i kite till i find it.
the game just needs a bit of tweaking. TLC. Love from the developers to be great. im diggin the staffs and attack animations.
That's not horrible design.

It's VERY common amongst TPC (third-person combat) games where the camera follows directly above and behind the player-character. It pans in very close when you're crammed in a space, and clips through the player-character model. If the player-character model didn't "vanish", then you wouldn't be able to see what you're trying to do, fight, etc, because the player-character model would obstruct your view.
I just pulled up dark souls. At no point does your body disappear. The camera stays a fixed distance away from the body, and if a wall is blocking the camera will stick to the wall. As the body comes close it will obscure more and more of the FOV. It feels very natural unlike "I have a body" "now I don't"

I'm not sure if you're bothered by the fact that this game doesn't obscure your field of view so you are able to see what you are doing...or...? This really is a pretty common mechanic. 3rd-person camera when crowded into a small area will clip through the player-character model, and the model will disappear so you can still see what you are doing.

I think it happens in some 3rd person shooters as a means of preventing the character from safely seeing around corners. I can't think of any melee game where this happens. As for "model will disappear so you can still see what you are doing." - well, it has exactly the opposite effect. You can say "don't roll in hallways" but then the developers are favoring tank yet again over rogue.
