Medium/Kite Shields can "shield bash" only,
Small/Bucklers can "Parry" only....
There arent exeptions at all, so dont throw in random stuff, just because you did some mistakes on your end, because there isnt any kite shield able to parry at all!!!!
Why Heavy Weapons which hit hard once with a longer cooldown/windup is better then a small paced, low damage weapon: DPS wise they can be the same, but heavy hitters are able to abuse timings a lot better then fast weapons, because they "just" need to hit once when the enemy is in a bad position, compared to daggers which need to be on target a longer time to deal the same ammount of damage -> you will get punished harder for not knowing when to retreat
What got me confused was the Champion. The "shield bash" was staggering him back and knocking him out for a bit, so I thought my character was doing a parry. When this wasn't working on regular enemies, I assumed that I was doing a different kind of attack. It also happened to be a different character.
I'm not throwing in "random stuff". Those remarks aren't really needed.
Whether or not heavy weapons or smaller weapons are better is a subjective matter, and determined by someone's play style. I was just showing that you can do a lot of damage with agility weapons, my primary example being a staff. I'm not sure what you mean by "just hitting once" with heavy weapons, because you also just explained that they have longer cooldown/windup... whereas lighter weapons hit multiple times, but take some time to finish a full combo. Either way, you're going to be spending some amount of time to finish your attack. You're going to need to get good at timing in both respects, if you don't want to take damage.
