Breaking walls not working?

I got to the catacombs to jail circle and in one of the jails I heard this weird sound. I realized that it comes because I am wearing the compass, and there's a secret. So I tried to do everything on the wall it was coming from. Nothing worked.

I read about it online and everyone just said that you're supposed to do a running shield bash on the wall, and it breaks... Except it's not working for me.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it because I only have the agility based Buckler?

Also had problems with that particular wall, but somehow the wall broke down after running a while and raised my shield to bash the wall. There is a heirloom hammer behind the wall.

with running shield bash did you press LT/L2? because you have to hold block while running to do the running shield slam that's needed to break walls

I am running and pressing LT. Holding block as in LB? It doesn't seem to do anything except making me unable to bash with LT.

Can you please explain how to do it?

You want to run then hold block(LB) you aren't trying to "shield bash" the wall but basically turn yourself into a battering ram but running at it shield first.

That doesn't do anything at all for me.

Is this because I am using a buckler? Or am I still doing something wrong? Cause running and holding LB does nothing

it may be possible that you can't be a battering ram with a buckler, try using the kite shield you find in the portal just before the first boss, it opens after you killed him

I guess I am just an idiot and was doing it wrong and not a bug. But now that I restarted the game it suddenly worked.

Yeah, the running shield bash is done by sprinting and holding BLOCK, which should be L1.

This is a huge skill to master as it is a great way to handle the massive tower shield carrying arseholes. It works pretty well against everything though honestly.

Not sure if this will work, but here is glitch i found that allows to walk through breakable walls: stand in front of one, then go to inventory and change your weapon, then right after you exit inventory, start walking forward. It worked on the first breakable wall i found. It was in one of first locations and there was bug that killed me in one hit.
