First Time Playthrough, With or Without DLC?

Title pretty much says it all, this is my first time playing the game, would it be better with or without any DLC? I haven't looked at what the DLC does, as I just got it with the base game as part of the package.

if you already own it, there's no reason to not give it a try. You can get some nice weapons and armor from it. Achievements too. But it's very short and can get tough. (Mainly because of one type of enemy, but I don't want to spoil.) The boss is really fun, but a little too easy.
I'd say go for it.

I hope the armor and weapons aren't too overpowered? My main worry from these kinds of things is that they'll add something that makes the game too easy or something.

There is NOTHING overpowered in this game. Practically zero risk of creating a "broken build" or something. You will suffer and that's that.
