Remember that you have to go behind the bookshelf before he attacks.
solace is probaly the worst spelltree. shelter is overrated when dim hope exists and can be gotten before even fighting the 2nd boss. deception stomps the other 2 once you learned stab and shift you become a walking force of nature if used probaly shift can kill the final boss before he can even use his beamlaser at all.
best spells (in terms of usefulness/power)
shift>>>>stab>ram>shelter>rage>the rest is pretty much barely worth mentioning as the spell system is hugely unbalanced sadly. quake is just too slow overall but if it hits most enemies get stomped. solace is pretty medicore and shelter is the only really good spell.
not sure about the agi one as i once tryed agi build and didnt like it. peacemaker + shift is just unbeatable imo. ANY normal enemy is a oneshot. even at ng++ and without any charms. so you dont even need betrayer charm for most enemies. add last stretch trinket for bosses and some bosses fall in 1-2 shift attacks even on NG++ which is just absurdly OP. and all you need is spend 10 points in faith for this. as raising faith doesnt raise the dmg or duration of shift at all i found. its purely weapon dmg based. and since spellpoints are free basicly. you only need 3-4 levels in spellpoints per playtrough. rest comes purely from drops. absolutly worth it.
