They still likely know how their online sales work. If not the electronics department, then call their general support, and ask about it. Pretty straight-forward to pursue a solution.
Did you just buy an empty box, or is it just a receipt?
Does it have a manual in the box, or any paper whatsoever? Sometimes there's a serial on one of the pages of the manual, or on some thin card in the box, or sometimes printed on the top of the disc.
If you can't find it anywhere, I'd take it back to Walmart, show them the package, and ask where the serial is. If they can't find it, then I'd ask for a refund. Their no refund policy applies to products that were actually what they were advertised as. If you never received the product, then the terms of the sale don't apply and you deserve your money back, and Walmart won't deny you it if they know you didn't get the product.
Good luck, it's a great game, IMO.
