What are considered "Christmas Item"?
As the time of writing the guide, there are much things to pick up, throw and incinerate.
I'm totally lost with that items are considered "junk"(things you must burn), "non-junk"(Crates , Lantern and Barrels are not counted as junks in original VCD) and "Christmas Items".

Here goes the list I found in his house so far(not counting Water Bucket and Trash bin for obvious reason).
- Elf Bodies and remains(junk, but head is achievement-related)
- Reindeer remains(junk, Red Nose is achievement-related)
- Reindeer horns(junk, possibly the biggest junk in his house)
- Shotgun Shells(junk)
- Knives(junk? Often used to pin Elves on walls.)
- Wood/Stone Pieces(junk, whatever that's left of the blown-up wall)
- Alcohol bottles(junk, breakable if smashed)

- Janitor's Trunk(non-junk)
- Santa's Boomstick(non-junk for almost sure, Achievement-related)
- Stools and rocking-chair(non-junk)
- Candles(non-junk I think, stands on fireplace)
- Wooden Buckets(non-junk I think, in basement)
- Lantern(non-junk unless you break it)

- Painted Balls(Christmas Item? decorates walls and are easily breakable)
- Present Boxes(Christmas Item)

- Wood Planks(unknown, hides the bodies in upstair balcony. Detector doesn't consider it junk)
- TNTs, stick or bundle(unknown, Detector considers it junk)
- Molotovs(unknown, Detector considers it junk)
- Plushes/Stuffed Dolls (unknown, Christmas Item?)
- Letters(unknown, maybe Christmas item?)
- Ballistic Weapon toy guns(unknown, but achievement-related)

Are you sure that knives are junk? I don't think my detector saw them as one (there is this one knife on the table near the blown wall, which seemed ok).

Not 100% obviously, as I haven't finished it.

I have thrown every of those Christmas items into the furnancer. But still the achievement does not come up when clocking out.
1. Christmas presents
2. Those balls
3. Hats I found (50???)
4. Those candy sticks

I can not find anything else I could burn!

In order to achieve the "Sanitized Earth" achievement you need to burn every last thing! Except for items in your janitor's trunk, the trunk itself, or the radio.

In general, any items you keep in your trunk don't count toward losing any cleaning achievements.

In order to actually save Christmas you need to spare Christmas items, which include every last glass ball, hat, toy, present, candy cane and candles. Everything else can be destroyed with impunity.

I think that is just I did. Non of our kids will have a single present, but still no achievement. I even burned every chair and candle. But I also burned the trunk with everything in it. Will this break the achievement? And in addition to that I clocked off before and returned because I got the cleaned everything achievement but not the "Sanitized Earth" achievement. So I started looking for christmas items again. Will the system only check for successfull achievement once?

There aren't 50 hats in one level, aren't there?

I burned and cleaned absolutely everything, too. Unfortunately some gibs and small items can clip through the floor making the achievement unobtainable for that play session:

See the 3 meat bits on the left? They came from the hazard bin dispenser. I pressed the dispenser again after it got me meat and it stomped the meat into the floor. No idea why the gun fell through as well though. I think this might have something to do with jittering knives, the ones that disappear sometimes when they touch the floor.

There should be a failsafe under the floor that annihilates everything that ends up there...

This happens quit often. You might try to get into ghost mode (tab and enter ghost). And push them up with your mob (hit them from below until they are at the normal surface.
But in my case I have looked for everything with this view mode. There was nothing left - nothing.

La Merde, you sure you didn't miss a splatter from one of the xmas bulbs on the ceiling?

The clock off was successfull. I just did not get the achievement for destroying every christmas item. So I clicked "stay here" and I looked again for further items.

It honestly could just be another bug. As I pointed out in another thread, this is very much an alpha. .20 to be exact. However this LEVEL is being listed at 1.0 which really kinda sucks. I LOVE this game, but I'm past the point of trying to do things right when playing.

I clean up, play around, then give up when it starts to frustrate me.

Instead of giving us a Xmas level, they should have improved on the engine. Or at the very least, let people know this level is part of a VERY early alpha instead of just tossing it up on steam and asking people for money.

Question: do the orange darts in the stable count as 'christmas toys' or are they junk?
Caspian Roach Dec 14, 2013 @ 12:44pm
To answer my own question: No, orange darts are 'junk'. To get Christmas Crisis averted achievement you need to dispose of every beeping item on the sniffer, both blue and green. I even had a clean bucket at the end but that didn't matter, got my achievement anyway.

Letters are also junk.

Now for sanitized earth... and one of the guns already fell through the stable floor...

Caspian, hit ` to bring up the console, then type Ghost which will allow you to fly below the item.

From there, start beating the HOLY HECK out of that gun with your mop up towards the map. See if you can't get it to clip back into the map.

Also I don't know if KillNearestMess works on guns, haven't tried it myself just yet. But it's worth a shot. That console code DOES work while in ghost mode.

ARG. GUESS WHAT JUST HAPPENED XD. I tried to clean everything without braking christmas items (wanted to collect the achievement and then destroy them to collect the other achievement without cleaning everything again).

I missed the damn hanging elf at the balcony. TRIED to get him down and guess what :D. A damn glass ball fell down. I was almost done.... (and then I accedently let fall down a molotov near the furnance (where I prepared the TNT (!) to get rid of proberly). HAHA. WHAT A EPIC MESS. Again about 45 min. well wasted.
