You need to understand 2 things:
1. AVX2 is actually used for optimizations for games and essentially any new game coming will require it.
2. CPU's released in 2013+ support it (with exception of a few models) support AVX2 and they are priced anywhere between 50-100 euros.
New CPU means new mobo means new ram, your 50-100 euros means a new pc for a lot of people.
what people say are 100-120 dollar upgrades are in fact more like 250 ones
even more if you arent from the us
YES EXACTLY THIS,someone would argue to get a PS5,but still thats like a new pc,and really SM1 and SMMS worked amazing without AVX2,whats the point.p
so i doubt avx2 makes it that much better
And people keep saying, "All the new games require AVX2." Yeah, sure, only Sony’s "new" games. Meanwhile, I’ve been playing new releases just fine. Screw that Spider-Man game, we’ll survive without it.
I’ve got better things to do than upgrading my whole damn PC just for one ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game! My setup works perfectly fine!
Besides, Sony screwed up big time. Where the hell does it even say in the system requirements that AVX2 is needed? If I had known, I wouldn’t have bought it! Real devs give a heads-up! These guys are just straight-up scammers!
CPUs with AVX2
Intel
Haswell processors (Q2 2013) and newer, except models branded as Celeron and Pentium.
Celeron and Pentium branded processors starting with Tiger Lake (Q3 2020) and newer.[10]
AMD
Excavator processors (Q2 2015) and newer.
