Frame Generation Seems Strange
Something is up with the implementation of frame gen, for me, it seems. Anyone else having the issue where your FPS slowly dwindles (not a HUGE drop, but all the same) after you've turned on Frame Generation? So then I have to turn FG off and then back on again to get to the higher number.

I'll go from like high 100s for a couple minutes when I first turn it on and then it'll go down to high 80s. So then I turn it off and back on and it's immediately in the 100s - sometimes high 90s - again for another couple minutes. It's not just the FPS display giving the wrong number, because the game does noticeably get faster or slower then.

And while obviously FPS changes according to whatever's going on in the scene, it's not that in this instance.

What's the deal here? ...Is it just another thing we'll have to wait on to get patched?

I've been having to use Xess Ultra Quality with FSR 3.1 framegen lol. Doesn't do the jittery stuff like it does combined with DLSS...but still, it's XESS. :-(

Looks fine enough I guess though. Until I can find some fix for this.

I thought that was working for a bit, but it's actually the same thing with XeSS. Nevermind.

So, if anyone could be so kind as to tell - if you've had the jittery movement with FSR 3.1 framegen (because it by far gives me the best performance) - how you've fixed this if you have....Or for anyone, does this even occur for you? I'd also be interested to know what amd dll files you're using, because I've tried two different versions with DLSS Swapper now and swapping them out for older ones have not made any difference.

I highly doubt it’s your cpu or even your power supply as frame gen in this game is really in fact weird and feels choppy unlike other games. Wait for a patch to address this issue and for the meantime I found running AMD’s FSR3.1 frame gen is actually way better in this game and more stable I played throughout the entire game with it and it was fine, so you can use that for the time being

Frame Gen was ♥♥♥♥ when they implemented on the older games, continues to be ♥♥♥♥ in this game.

It is indeed a lot better performance-wise. Much, much better. But again the jittery motion in a substantial portion of the cutscenes ultimately makes me opt for using DLSS again. Very unfortunate.

Out of curiosity, is it mainly when you're swinging near the streets? For me this was the case. Putting traffic density down to Medium seemed to help this a lot. Normally I wouldn't compromise on settings, but it's not a very important setting to me.

Seems more related to view distance. The mor vast the landscape is while swinging the worse the FPS gets.

I tried with RT Distance to 50%, it was a little better but still below 60 sometimes. The worse part is that DLSS does nothing, i get no FPS out of it.

Seems like some sort of bottleneck. With RT full my CPU goes to 70-80% usage and my GPU drops to 70-80% even on 4k native and the FPS dips below 60. This is extremely odd to happen.

I thought I had fixed what you mention, but apparently not. Still get a fair bit of stuttering when I'm swinging closer to the ground. And apparently being on the ground in the cities on foot I just get outright bad stutter for some reason, despite good FPS - a bit lower, but still decent.

So I'm sort of about to give up on anymore tweaking and just let them patch it out more. A shame this Nixxes port was lacking. At least they seem to be cranking out the patches at a rapid pace. I'm not sure how helpful they have been to people though.

Newest patch or driver doesn't help with the framegen issues. FSR 3.1 framegen still has jittery motion and framegen in general still starts high and progressively lowers.

One other thing I noticed is alt-tabbing the game and then going back in again shoots the FPS right back up. So basically I can keep alt-tabbing to raise my FPS back up each time, but that's a pain in the ass.

I know most people prefer nvidia frame gen to amd but in the Spider-Man games specifically, AMD’s version has been much smoother for me. The two previous games run like butter but when I turn nvidias on I get this weird wobble or slowdown effect when panning the camera. I have a 4090 so technically the dlss version should be a better experience.
You have the same problem with me, DLSS FG is so weird. I use my laptop with rtx4050 and when I turn DLSS FG on, the framerate look so bad, although MSI afterbunder show me the higher fps but it seems very lag and lagger when I turn FG off :<<<
