Saves not working?

I'm actually getting pretty decent performance all around on a Ryzen 5700X3D and a RX 7900 XTX, which is to be expected. I had one crash during the prisoner transfer fight, which leads me to my problem. When restarting the game, it didn't recognize any saved progress at all and forced me to start over (not the worst amount of progress lost, but still frustrating). At first I chalked it up to very, very bad autosave functionality, but every time I manually save, it never states that there is a save file. It always lists "new save." Is this a visual bug, or am I simply ♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of making any progress at all until they patch this?

It turned out that Windows defender was blocking the folder with saves. Added a folder with saves in exceptions, everything became normal.

Thats wasn't my problem, unfortunately. I think the single crash I had corrupted all of the save files, and wouldn't look at the steam cloud saves for some reason. Had to manually download the save file and replace the corrupted save file in that folder.

I tried that myself ronin. I tried to add it to the exclusions, I tried to make sure my one drive was disabled, I even tried to make it to where the folder was added as a protected file. I still could not save the game.
