I've had a few friends tell me I can't and a few people telling me I can so I wanted to ask here

You can, but don't expect good results. The game will have a lot of hitching as stuff takes forever to load in. Even on good hardware you will have to lower settings, and lower expectations.

This game loads a LOT of data, and it will overwhelm a hard drive. Keep in mind NVMe SSD's are over 50x faster.

I think Digital Foundry did it for Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. It's not recommended, but it held up a lot better than many were expecting. Based on that, definitely do-able, but with a great a trade off of performance.

Yeah you can probably get it to work, but you'll have to severely temper your expectations and probably lower settings like textures quite a bit. Because even if your CPU/GPU can handle it, a hard drive will simply not load assets in fast enough.

I wonder if Digital Foundry or another channel will test this game using an HDD on this game.

I’m curious to see if it’s any different than R&C Rift Apart with possibly newer Direct Storage improvements. I’m guessing probably not.
You can install it even on a floppy disk and it will even run. You just won't be able to play it)
