Character models not loading in

I don't even have spideys in the menu, thought maybe it'll take some time to load in properly, but all cutscenes are invisible Peter Parker and even after all the cutscenes he's still invisible although Miles is there. Tried verifying game files, reinstalling, restarting PC - nothing works. Latest nvidia driver installed. Anyone knows how to fix it?

I tried waiting in the menu for some time in case there's a background hidden 'compiling shaders' thing but no luck. It seems like the game just ignores something and does not load character models in for some reason. Graphic settings do not affect this, I tried changing them. Idk what could be causing this and no idea what to try except wait for a patch.

Having the exact same issue. Sometimes people show up as little floating mannequin heads or clothes and hair floating around, but most character models (including spider-man) are just invisible. So far re-installing, verifying game files, lowering graphics settings etc all have not worked.

change back to the previous driver 566.36

It's because of a directstorage bug.
Just rename the files dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll (foe example: dstorage.dllback)

Could you clarify? Like, do I rename them something specific, or just the last bit, or is the last bit an example of what I have to rename?

Specifically ONLY now that I renamed dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll "dstorage.dllback" and "dstoragecore.dllback", NOW EVERYTHING, NOT JUST THE PISS I HAD ISSUES WITH, IS NOW INVISIBLE.

NOW I CAN'T EVEN PROPERLY PLAY THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME.

I notice that whenever I have quit the game, and start it at a later time, the character models just don't load.
At first I thought I had accidentally put on a first-person mode or something, but when enemies didn't appear, I had to quit and verify integrity on Steam, which seemed to solve the problem every time, but it's obviously not ideal to have to do that every time.

Apart from this I've had a few crashes, and a couple visual glitches but the crashes aren't frequent, and the visual glitches aren't that obnoxious.

EDIT TO ADD: I literally typed my original comment while steam was verifying the file integrity. When it was done, I restarted the game, and I still don't have Peter and Miles in the main menu, so; that didn't work this time.
I suspect skipping the pre-menu intros might cause issues. Will have to verify this.

Final Edit to add: Verified integrity again, didn't skip intros, no dice. 👎🏼

So, final post on this issue on my part.

I've tried most everything at this point, and was really looking forward to play this game again. I had a blast playing it yesterday with not many unsolvable issues.
But tonight, I can't seem to get this game to work properly.

I tried just loading into my save (after a Peter and Miles-less main menu), and changing suits briefly looked like a fix. Spidey was showing up! But after getting Miles to show up, Peter, again, was missing until I changed to a different suit again.
In the next cutscene, Peter was talking to empty space where Wraith should be.

It's a shame really, and there seems to be no fix? I'm not savvy enough to check everything in depth, and, again, the game was running fine just yesterday. :(

I thought that the hotfix solved it for me because right after it released everything loaded in ok and I could play the intro mission without any problems, but the next day when I launched the game the character models disappeared again. No idea what to do, I'll just wait for the next update I guess.

anyone who is having trouble with that, try this: turn settings to very low, exit the game and then restart the computer, now should be solved, after that you can change settings back to your desired preset

Lol wtf im not jumping hoops and fixing this brokenass game for the devs. If they cant pull their finger out and ensure that the game actually runs on day of release they dont deserve my money. Refunded. Now that i gave them a chance and they ♥♥♥♥ in my open palm, i will just pirate this. Thanks.
