Miles Morales being Spider-Man makes sense because he’s been in the comics for years, and NYC is full of different cultures. Hailey Cooper, a deaf Black girl, isn’t thrown in for representation—she’s just part of Miles’ world. MJ’s playable sections build on her established role as an investigative journalist, and Yuri Watanabe’s return as Wraith fits the darker themes of the game.

LGBTQ+ representation, like pride flags and Hailey’s presence, is subtle and realistic for NYC. It’s not the focus; it’s just part of the world. The game’s real message is that anyone can be a hero, and that inclusivity makes the story stronger, not weaker.

The problem is that Miles Morales is not Spiderman for everyone, but only for "people of colour".

They keep repeating it over and over during the last game, in case white people are under the mistaken impression that Miles would lift a finger to help them. Because Peter Parker was always a racist (he was not) and now FINALLY the REAL downtrodden who have always been ignored now get to play victim and cheer for their own Spiderman. Like, we should be ashamed that we ever thought a hero like Spiderman could be white. And "oppressor" like Peter could never be a real hero.

And they can now use JJ Jameson as a counduit for their own racist nonsense and caricatures of the right. Surprised they didnt get Stephen Colbert to voice him this time.
