I can't get it to work though, I only have a window with a stylized cog image and no menu.
The location of save files is also changed and old save probably won't work. New save location seems to be %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Lazy 8 Studios\Cogs but since game doesn't fully work there's no file but only logs and steam_autocloud.vdf.
If the game isn't working for you at all, let me know what you're seeing. Does it not launch? Crash? What platform are you on?
All I see is this picture in a window

Platform: Win11 23H2, Core i5-12600K, RTX 4070TI, 32 GB RAM.
BTW there's a folder named "Cogs_BurstDebugInformation_DoNotShip" in game folder now.
Something tells me it shouldn't be shipped.

And indeed, I did accidentally bundle the DoNotShip files in the depot. But that won't break anything. It's just debug information that's useful for diagnosing problems.

I did some code exploration through the 16 years of different versions and it looks like, most recently, I was using a legacy cloud-save API that Steam offered. So there is not save file on your computer that you can just copy and paste into the new location. I'll take some time to integrate with the newest Steam API to see if I can find a way to fetch and restore your old cloud save and port it to the new preferred Steam API.
In the meantime, just type "unlock" when you open Cogs to get access to every puzzle.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<id>\26500\remote\
Where <id> is userid, a string of numbers.
Also you can download it from the https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=26500
Unless it was already overwritten.
Even maximised: The Windows taskbar remains visible along the bottom and the Cogs menu bar running along the top. Anyone else getting that?
Yup! Found a .dat file that lines up nicely with when I last made progress in the game. Though seems it's expecting a .txt file now. Does this mean it needs converting?

Without Steam the Linux version works. I guess its now unlocked from Steam = Free to play.
(i copied the Steam install folder over to other non-Steam games folder. to be safe... TY
