Cogs

Works great on Steam Deck
Just wanted to let anyone know who is trying to check if it's compatible. It runs flawlessly on the deck, and the puzzle style makes it an ideal game for playing on it.

***2025 update***
Currently there is an issue causing the bottom half of the screen not to register inputs.
To fix, select the game in your library.
Don't open the game, click on the gear, then go to properties.
Under General, set the resolution to 1920x1200 and check "set resolution for internal and external display."
It's possible these can be fine tuned (I will update this post if that's the case), but I wanted to update with my current solution since there is interest in the remaster.

state if you use the Win or Lin version.

I was using SteamOS.

then the question still remains.

If the game had multiple install options, I don't remember what I chose anymore, sorry.

I guess the app "Steam" is quite different from the Win or Lin version then. Not sure if they differ too. (yes, code is diff. but i mean overall)
I wonder what the Mac version is like. (or others)

So? Maybe on the SteamDeck only a specific closed version of Steam is enforced.

It's not really working too well for me on the SDeck. The game starts, but I can't really access the buttons. Clicking 'Inventor Mode' works, but everything else doesn't. I'd love to change up some of the options, but the screen just does that 'wiggle' thing, like it doesn't want me selecting that button. I've changed to the suggested developer configuration layout, and that doesn't make it any better. And it is CHOMPING through my battery, fan blasting. Lost 20% battery in the time it took different attempts just to run the game.

What is the "suggested developer config"??
Did you set Steam overal Steamplay? Dont, do it by hand (cpmpat option) per game.
Running as Win or Lin game? Set it to Linux, re-install.

Thanks for the reply. I reinstalled after turning off the Steam overlay, and am running in Steam Linux Runtime compatibility. No change. Seems like even though I can move the mouse on the full screen, the buttons don't work on the lower half. For controller settings, I'm using the Official Layout for Cogs (by Lazy 8 Studios).

From memory, I don't know what layout I used, but probably the default. I think I used touch pads and touch screen for that game. No issues with the buttons that I recall, but I feel like I didn't like the joy stick setup. I didn't take the time to update the layout to something I preferred more since I wan't going to use the joysticks anyway (but since touchpads worked flawlessly I would have copied that behavior). Apologies if my memory is slightly off, but hopefully that helps.

You halve me curious now, If I have time I'll reinstall this weekend and check for you.

I see what your are taking about, looks like steam is now upping the resolution beyond what the game thinks the pay area is. Do you know if it was working before the big steam update yesterday? It may just be a temporary bug.

Nah, I just loaded it up this morning, wanting to see the remaster. It's playing fine on PC though, so I'm going to delete it from my Deck. Hey, I just realized that your original thread was last year (pre-update), and was resurrected yesterday. Sorry for the confusion.

Not at all, I'm actually excited to learn there is a remaster. That was news to me.

I may have also found the fix. go to properties, set the resolution to 2560x1600 and set resolution for internal and external display. Everything now works on the main menu, but that's all the testing I did so far so it may some dialing in on the exact resolution.
1920x1200 also works.
