At this difficulty, the fuel costs are higher, so you need to plan your moves and drilling carefully at the beginning, but as you go deeper, it will become easier.
I am considering making "Overcoming" harder for deeper levels, but I'm not sure yet, and it's not my top priority right now, of course.
Go for silver and gold ores only. Copper if you have room and it's on the way. Iron and coal don't pay for themselves.
You start with $1000 so you only need another $1500 to get the fuel tank, which is your biggest bottleneck.
When you reach 400m you get $2000 reward so that's almost a whole upgrade.
Then buy the drill and then the storage bay. Now you should be over the difficult part and equipped well enough to make it to the next biome where you can mine emeralds.
What is the best drill to buy out of the 3? I have not seen a guide out there that can give the best build order for each upgrade path out there. I am just kind of going off of the assumption that whatever uses the least amount of fuel tends to be the best, but is the chance to get more ore with the one drill worth taking it with its downsides?
