AI keeps on nuking cities.

Playing mission 9 and trying to capture Beijing conventionally but the AI (ASEAN Coalition) keeps on using nukes in Chinese cities which forces me to fail the "Keep friendly civilian casualties less then 10 million."

Any way around this?

The mission doesn't actually require you to invade Mainland China at all. Honestly, the easiest way would just be to not invade China.

Tried it again without invading China, AI allies kept using nukes on Chinese cities and I keep failing the less than 10 million civilian casualties. Any way to change AI behaviour perhaps?

The AI allies have nukes? I've played through the campaign twice now (first time a few different attempts) and I haven't seen that.
Most conventional way to beat the mission I'd say is to just blockade in Vietnam/Taiwan/North Korea, stay outside their borders. Use hypersonic cruise missiles to dominate the coast line. Let their armies come to you.
Though I've found you can dismantle pretty much everything they have from the air. 6th gen aircraft with the best weapons are great for that.
Also, if it's friendly civilian casualties, not sure how their cities getting hit counts.
Anyway, hope it works out!

Yup, they have nukes somehow. Also bio-weapons as well, though I've noticed they only use it if I attack mainland China.
