A second survivor? possibly more?
what if the robot computer lady acually malfunctioned during the impact and said there was only one life pod that was launched? what if there on the other side of the aurora? because you cant even go on the other side. Just a theory that i have. What do you guys think.

You can go on the other side though, there's just nothing there.

The devs are planning on adding abadoned lifepods and damaged lifepods. So it's possible there is a second character, but the plan seems for them to be places the PC can find fragments and blueprints not other survivors.

There are two abandoned sea-bases to be found. One tucked away in a cave and the other on floater island. I'd say your theory holds some weight. My first thought was they have been put there by a previous expedition crew. Although a second survivor makes just as much sense. To add to your point, I only remember one seat in the life-pod before this latest update. Idk I just can't wait for the finished product, very high hopes for the story lol.

The abandoned sea-bases are a little creepy, who built them? the Scouting Team before the Aurora arrived? A little impractical to send people to scout a planet like that, tellecommuting with drones would be safer and much quicker.

Hey, check out the abandoned seabase on the Floater Island that isn't located on a mountaintop. There's an abandoned PDA with some dialog from another supposed survivor. According to what it says, I think they moved to the Jelly Shroom Cave, and then died there probably due to crabsnakes.
If you repair the/build a new communications thingy, it will tell you various messages, two of which suggest other survivors. One of them mentions life pod 17. Your pod is 5. Another says the captain has died and that all survivors should rendavous (idk spelling) at dry land located 750 miles south of the crash site. I know, I'm obsessive about game lore :P

Actually there was a recent update in experimental mode that makes a communications receiver in the life pod receive an automatic distress signal from life pod #17. It also recieves a signal from the second in command of the aurora, saying the first in command was gone (maybe dead) and that they found dry land about 750 meters south of the aurora. This obviously refers to the floating island. I investigated both signals, but could find neither the other life pod nor traces of living people on the island. I am sure the devs will put in those things in the future, but for now we know that there indeed are other survivors

There definately were other survivors. Some messages state evidence of survivors. One is from life pod 7 (Senior engineer LaFette) saying they are alive but sinking. Likely dead. Then there's Hollister and Keen. Hollister is obviously dead, it even tells you that. Keen, however, isn't accounted for. He may in fact be alive, but I'll tell you why not in a second. Life pod 17 wasn't declared dead, but I have found it lying demolished on the sea floor. Another message says roughly 'Subject (some number) eliminated. New subjects unnacounted for: 1' I think this means that something is hunting down survivors, and the player is the last subject. I personally think that subject (whatever number) is none other than officer keen. That's my theory :) I don't know if it's right, I just like that one

There were actually several survivors like some that sank, some that probably scavenged their pod, and some that got onto the island (because of the base)

In the island bases there's a few abandoned PDA logs from the survivors. They survived the crash of another ship called The Degasi. Apparently the Degasi's end was nearly identical to that of the Aurora.
So basically yes, they did survive, no, they weren't our shipmates. Close enough.

There's something else, too. All the demolished life pods have one thing in common:
They were destroyed from THE INSIDE! The holes in them are all facing outward. What could've broken a life pod from within?
Our good old in-dev buddy,
The Warper.
Oh I forgot:
Also Keen may not be that subject. It's possible that it was the Degasi survivors, too. AGH, THEORY HEADACHE

So can you find the crashed ship?
