What happened on Obraxis Prime?

So after crafting the survival knife. The PDA says about removal of weapons because of a massacre on Obraxis Prime. But what exactly happened there? Like how did it happen? Is there anything that says what happened on that planet?

'massacre' kinda implies that some other civilian crew got stranded on a planet, met the locals and decided to just build weapons and commit mass-murder.

My interpretation was that Alterra employees rose up against their corporate masters. Slaughtering civilians or locals probably wouldn't have upset them enough to do something as drastic as remove weapon blueprints entirely. Killing management? Yeah, nothing sharper than a ball-point-pen for you anymore, buddy...

MAss shootings happen every year in the states. More than once.

And the is a feckton of money made by corp's on selling weapons.

And massacres INCREASE sales.

So i'm betting it it's something about keeping the peasants under control.

Though IRL, the devs heard of some school shooting, decided to protest or show support.
by banning defensive weapons, underwater, on a planet with zero other humans.

... not sure how that logic works, but that's what they said.

Fact that it said removed from ifepod fabriators means that it probably was someone like a passenger who got ahold of the weapons.

I always thought they were worried about liability as a Corporation. Someone must have tried to sue them for a massacre that used their tech and they didn't want to have to pay out again.

Mayby they removed it because alterra passengers with mental illness mayby might get ahold of such weapons therefore setting the scene of what happened on obraxis prime, mayby a mentally ill person got hold of a weapon or there was a fight over food

Given Alterra's culture and regulations?

Obraxis Prime was the site of a research, exploration, or mining outpost. Their communications and launch equipment ceased functioning and left the outpost stranded. Between ten and fifteen years passed before Alterra reconnected with the wayward outpost. In that time, the survivors had put together a functioning if crude society and had exploited the planet's resources to make something that they called home. Alterra ordered them to return to work and their previous standard of living. The survivors, now colonists, refused. Alterra used force to push compliance. The colonists built their own weapons to resist. Lots of people die, including all colonists. The colony/mines/resources take minor damage.

Due to the loss of resources and the cost of training replacement military personnel Alterra determines that the corporation will suffer fewer losses by disarming the populace than it will gain by exploiting survivors of emergency situations.

That's the happy version.

The more realistic version is nothing. Maybe a misfire startled a security officer. Maybe civilians heard gunfire from a training exercise and panicked. Maybe Obraxis Prime doesn't exist and it was all made up. Alterra is an oppressive regime. Oppressive regimes make sure the oppressed don't have weapons.

i belive what happened was that someone used an escape pod that was over a collony with materials and built weapons while he was entering the atmosphere. when he/she landed, they started killing everyone they saw.
after the inciedent, alterra realized the dangers of having weapon blueprints so easily avalable. so they removed them from the fabricator database but leave the knife for obvious reasions.

My theory is that when a big ship crashed on obraxis prime. And survivors from lifepod gathered they starter to dissagre and Had a mini war
