VR on Quest 2
I have been trying to get Subnautica to play using my Quest 2 with some frustration. As was previously noted in other posts, the right stick does not work. Going through the controller menu, it seems the game will only support XBox and PS4 controllers. Do I need to use an XBox/PS4 controller or is there a way to get the game to recognize the right stick on the Quest controller?

The first real vr were headset and pad xbox. You will meet many games that continue to use the pad. Especially those of the "vr support" type (unlike those "vr only"). So getting an Xbox pad, or a replacement is a good idea.

You can probably work around this by using steam bindings. Remember then to run the game from the home steam vr.

You could rebind it through the SteamVR bindings yes, however this game uses more buttons than the Quest controllers have. So I would indeed say use a regular Xbox / PlayStation controller unless you don't have one, simply to prevent from not being able to use all functionality.

hey man, idk if you got it working but I've managed to make it work on quest 2. I've submitted a post previously but idk when it will be approved so here it is:

How to play this on quest 2 and enable right analog movement
1. Install subnautica VR mod on pc
2. Install Virtual Desktop on quest and virtual desktop streamer on pc
3. Go to input in the virtual desktop on quest and enable gamepad emulator (top box only)
4. Launch steam vr and launch subnautica
5. Start the game and hold the left menu button to open the virtual desktop settings and enable the second box enable the gamepad emulator
6. Return to subnautica and if everything was done correctly, you can now rotate with right analog

Also, you can access the game menu by holding the index middle trigger on the right controller and pressing the left menu button. This is useful because you can then set up your custom controls in the controller option. Some inputs that worked for me:
cycle next: right index trigger
cycle previous: left index trigger
use: right back trigger
take screenshot: i did not find a way to remove inputs and I don't believe there is a way so changing it to press on left analog stick made it less annoying as it was previous on one of the useful buttons
I also recommend 'moving down' to also be the same as cycle previous as it was a but difficult sometimes diving down just by looking

Hope it works, just sharing because I've read lots of posts online saying that it does not work with quest 2 since you can't rotate and settings were difficult but it's been smooth for me. Also need 5g or ethernet or can be laggy.
