your hz rate is pointless if you can't get the fps to match it.
Wrong. 144hz at 70fps is smoother than 70hz and 70fps because it duplicates frames. It even feels smoother than running the game and headset at 90hz. The reason to run 144hz is the headset caps the frames stable at 70
Both popular VR mods do not fix the user interface skew where you can't fully see your health, hunger, thirst, or air. I hope one of them manages to fix that problem for the new Subnautica Living Large Version update someday.
I am starting to wonder if it is also more of a quest 2 problem, as not everyone is reporting this bug. I had never seen it before when I was using the Rift S.
Either way. VR mods are currently dead for Quest 2 on Subnautica Living Large version. If you are having a different experience, please let me know. However, please only do so if you are playing the Living Large update and using a Quest 2.
Again:
Quest 2, Living Large update (non-legacy), interface skew bug (can't see health, hunger ,thirst, and oxygen is half visible).
VR Enhancements, Submersed VR, or other mod fix
What tab in the options menu do you find this setting under?
What is the setting called?
What do you adjust the setting to?
Did you actually have this same issue that I am talking about or was your HUD fine from the beginning anyway?
Are you using one of the VR mods I listed?
If so, which one are you using?
What other mods are being used with it?
The menu does have the option for making the HUD bigger or smaller which does not help with it being off-center at all. As I mentioned, I would love someone to provide 'details' on a workaround or fix for this issue. Without one, I can only assume there is some kind of misunderstanding or perhaps this is a troll. A troll from someone with the name you bear seems quite likely.
It is verified that this issue happens without mods for the quest 2. Since I did not have this issue with the Rift S. I had no mods installed when I came back to play with the Quest 2. Also, I did several clean installs during verification of various possibilities for workarounds and testing with and without mods for both the Living Large update and the previous legacy version.
The VR Enhancement mod does fix this issue on the legacy branch, but not for the living large update. However, updated saves can't be used on previous versions.
I might try to make a picture and include it on my profile later. I am not sure if that will actually work though since the picture would probably not be taken from the perspective of the VR Device and likely just from the game's perspective.
Regardless, to define it in words, is so. Basically, take the HUD and just move it towards the bottom left of the screen. Nothing is bigger or smaller or wrong. Just that the presented screen on the Quest 2 is moved several centimetres/a whole inch or so to the bottom left. This means that the the HUD parts of the hunger, thirst, and health are almost completely unseen. The oxygen meter is partially visible, but hard to look at. Part of it is cut off and it is difficult to actually see how much is left.
So it is offset both horizontally and vertically, left and down respectively. Specifically that it is not properly centered, just as you say. Sizing of the icons or the HUD itself did not seem to be different. Using the changing size of icons option from the options menu for the HUD did not have any positive effect. Bigger or smaller, the icons were still not properly readable or cut off completely.
As far as fixing it on the legacy branch, I am not sure why it worked. I had some mixed experiences with some parts of the mod. I didn't post any of that, because fixing this issue on Living Large update was my only goal. I did most of this testing over a couple months ago now. I might try to redo it later and give you some clearer feedback if I can. If I do, I will post on Nexus so you know to take a look.
(It might be interesting to note that while the main HUD is skewed to the lower left so that health, thirst, hunger, and oxygen are partially or completely hidden, the same is not true for the PDA. When opening the PDA to look at inventory or any other tab, the view is not messed up at all. Everything on the PDA displays properly and centered.)
144hz in the headset. You sure about that? Index res is low aaf, even still, I doubt you'd be able to maintain 144fps. Possible I guess again, very low res, I have to use 80hz and high settings in Virtual Desktop with a Quest 3 and 4080
That's not always the case. I have a lot of games that started as 2D games that added VR support later that is actually really good. In some cases you can't even tell that VR wasn't part of the original design. Some devs just don't give it the attention it deserve, like this game, for example.
