Maybe I didn't install it correctly. I got the qmod manager which installed in the steam subnautica folder. The mod itself I copied into the new qmod folder.
I tried both putting the files directly into the qmod and creating a vrimprovements sub folder in qmods. I also installed the qmod helper mod.
Do I get am entry or something in subnautica to confirm the mod is installed ??
I just uploaded version 1.4 and that should fix most of the VR issues. I will keep fixing any problems I run into while playing.
Install in /common files.. or in c/user...?
On a related side note. I use a HP VR1000 / Windows MR which I got last Thursday on a sale for €199. This is my first VR experience. I must say I didn't know what to expect, and was a little underwhelmed at first. Spent the first day or so to get everything figured out and adjusted. I'm getting used to the screen door effect and the rather small sweet spot. But since yesterday or the daybefore I'm getting hooked. What a great and incredible expierence.
At first I was afraid my eyes would possibly suffer, my eye sight got considerably worse over the last 6 to 8 months, reading my tablet, reading text on my TV etc. Now after a number of days I feel my sight is getting sharper again. Especially reading on my tablet or phone closeup.
Does anybody get the same effect ??
Instead of suffering, my eyes at least for now seem to benefit. Pleasant side effect
Hey there. Ok ill give it a shot building from 1.0. And then upgrading up to 1.4. (Stem/common apps is correct?)Btw you give yourself a rough start by choosing subnautica as vr starter.
Go for occuluc/vive store to have best experience with games. Lot of steam stuff is like ported and not perfect.
Yeah our eyes suffer but its all part of evolution XD
My specs btw. : occulus cv1 ,win 10 , 980gtx, bitdefender.
I agree that Subnautica is one of the worst games to play as a first experience in VR. The performance of the game is terrible even on high end systems so you will not get the required 90fps most of the time. The low framerate and the smooth locomotion and turning can give you motion sickness in VR. Get The Lab on Steam and Rec Room. Both are free and very good for getting use to VR. You can also explore some of the cool SteamVR home environments.
Performance wise, seems ok to me? I5 7600 @ 3.8ghz and nVidia 1060 6GB with a Vive. I'm not noticing any frame drops or reprojection in the Shallows and a little deeper. Slight stutter when passing some boundaries (loading?). Could be the new motion smoothing I guess but I didn't think it was that clever.
Thanks for the feedback. I think your CPU's single core performance will be better than mine since I'm running a Ryzen 5 1600 at 3.4Ghz. My CPU usage is maxed out and GPU is 50-70% when playing. Motion Smoothing does look pretty good but every so often I see some strange distortion so I have it off.
The PDA position is MUCH better. The Seaglide is not obstructing the view. I can actually read the subtitles now. I have full animations (including the fire in Pod 5).
What's shocking to me is that the devs have been negelecting the VR for almost a year. And then a modder comes along, and fixes everything. Amazing!
Thank you so much for this mod - you've saved Subnautica in VR for me!
Do not want to play it till it is playable in VR.
Kthx @who
I don't have any subs or a base yet but apparently they're fixed too.
