Game runs on desktop instead of oculus headset

I've ensured that unkown sources is checked in the options but despite that it loads and plays as if the headset does not exist.

Yes, i've started it in steam vr and on from the desktop with steam vr running

Try closing steam VR first. Now in your VR game section of steam, double click on Subnautica (not the desktop icon), it should pop up asking you if you want to play the desktop version or the steam VR version. Click the steam version and continue. You shouldn't have to start steam VR to play it. It recognizes that you have an oculus rift and starts accordingly.

Post back if you still have problems.

Yes, its either launch subnautica or the steam vr mode

Okay, I think I remember having a similar issue when I first started using my oculus. From memory, I tried uninstalling steam vr, restarted computer, then reinstalled steam vr. Can't remeber if that solved my prob...but give that a shot first... If it still happens, the Devs say to post the prob in the Oculus rift forum (which you did). Got to think about it a bit more...

Also, check to see if there is anything added in your game 'launch options' like the option (-vrmode none). If that is there, it will never load in VR.

One more thing, make sure Oculus home is running before trying to run subnautica...or any other steam vr game.
