Subnautica not playable after installing Mods
I have never played Subnautica with Mods before, so i looked up how to set up the whole thing, first with QModManager, now with Vortex.
I followed all instructions!
It installed and loaded all the Mods, everything seemed fine in both cases!
But after 5 minutes or so, (in both cases, QMod & Vortex), just got me a few tools (scanner, lamp, knife), the Game won't let me interact with some things or nothing at all.
I can't access the ladder nor the hatch, the lockerdoor inside the Lifepod opens, but nothing happens, shows no inventory, i can't access tools in my inventory anymore.
I saved the game, restarted Subnautica, not only the savegame, but all my tools i crafted are gone, all resources are also gone, but it shows a number in my inventory, with no items in it.
It did not matter if only a few mods where installed or 20, same result every time.
The game didn't crash, its just not playable anymore. The controls are gone and when i restart the game everything i did, is lost.

Had someone the same experience? I could not find any topic related to this problem.
I found some similar to that but nothing else.

Please could someone help, i would like to play this awesome game again but more challenging:steamthumbsup:

Thank you in advance:steamthumbsup:

Make sure you play Legacy with Legacy mods.

You said you use Qmods, which is deprecated with the current version of the game.

Hi and thanks for the quick answer.
I got the latest version so i gues no legacy. (Bulid version 71288)
But all the mods i have, i got from a YT link, where mods are shown etc. (NexusMods)
It said its for the 2.0 Latest Version. I checked all requirements for every mod. I took every latest version from NexusMods. There where some that did not load, could not be found but only 2-3. It didn't even install them, so i removed them.

And yes, at first i tried everything with QModManager until i found the "newest version" to install mods in Subnautica via "Vortex".

I uninstalled Subnautica, all the files, QMod, everything, and installed everything new, but this time with Vortex according to another YT Clip (for modding Subnautica in 2025).

Installation was no problem with Vortex, i installed about 10 mods, everythning green lighted, enabled, and so on.

Starting a new game, and it is the same result like in my discription above.
Only this time with Vortex but the bug stays the same :steamfacepalm:

Perhaps something not related to it, some driver in the backround for something.....

System :
Case CM Storm Sniper (yes the Old One) :steamhappy:
i7 8700k @ stock
Vega 56 Nitro+ / System installed new a month ago / GPU Driver etc. all newest
32GB 3000Mhz Vengance RAM
500GB SSD System / 1TB SSD Gamesdrive
600W Be Quiet
QModManager IS NOT the mod interface software for the current version of the game. You need remove it. QModManager will ONLY work with the Legacy version of the game (pre-2023), and the legacy versions of mods.

Current version mods need BepinEx 4.?? I KNOW there are instructions on Nexus that tell you this, along with the exact version #.
(Someone with recent mod install experience help me out here.)

Vortex is NOT mod enabling software for Subnautica. It is a general mod loading and managing tool for Nexus sourced mods, for any game.
Great tool, but it will attempt to load whatever mods and helper software you feed it, even if they are incorrect for your game version.
