pathfinder tool not working.

I've got the pathfinder. I RMB, the gun kicks (like it's doing something), but nothing comes out or makes a mark or whatever it's suppose to do. Am I missing something here ?

You have to swim and move around nothing happens if you stand still. As you move it leaves a trail behind you

That's wrong. It's soposed to shoot out this tiny plastic disk that gives off an holographic arrow, pointing to each other in the order they were laid down.

Have you tried hitting F to clear old trail/s? Maybe the game's gotten confused, and thinks you've hit the 20 limit already.

Yeah...I was moving. Maybe if I deconstruct it and rebuild.
