Blue Tablet pickup with PRAWN error

Picking up the Blue Tablet with the PRAWN doesn't unlock the blueprint, and neither does removing it from storage and placing it in your inventory. The place you use it is in the same facility where you pick it up. It's possible to pick up the tablet in the PRAWN and use it without receiving the necessary blueprint. This makes the game unfinishable without cheating in another one. This becomes even more problematic with the extra effect that you can't seem to drop the blue tablet because you are "indoors" where you get it.

I've only seen this confirmed in one place in the wiki comments. Would be nice to have it unlock no matter how it gets into your inventory.

And now if I'm reading this right, spawning in this essential, finite item required to complete the story because of a stupid bug, using the console will disable achievements?

I don't see an achievement linked to the blue tablet.
Maybe you're referring to "Thermal Activity" ? The trigger for this achievement is actually around the facility, and not inside (it's a bit random, and confirmed bugged.)
Regarding achievements, they are only disabled for the current session if, when you load the session or during it, the "disable console" gets unchecked.
Checking it again and reloading the savefile allows achievements to be unlocked again.

I saw a lot of people saying in forums that it would disable it entirely for the whole run, and the old thing with logging out then back in didn't work anymore. Already had 40 hours into this run so I just decided to try it anyway and it worked, so it's all good, but still an obnoxious bug that picking up the blue tablet with PRAWN doesn't give you the blueprint unless you drop it and pick it back up again.

It wouldn't be super big deal if there wasn't only 1, and a need/option to use 2. I don't remember where the first location you use one is, but I needed it to open the aquarium door in the containment facility. Per wiki, you normally craft this second one, but I needed the blueprint.

I'm pretty happy giving myself the blueprint via console and then relogging didn't kill off the last 4 achievements I needed though. So there's that.

Even though this is a bit late, but did you try dropping it in water and attempt to scan/pick it up again before using console commands? It seems like it work work that way.

Also, both Blue Tablets are used for the PCF only. One gets you through the main door and the other one opens the Emperor's tank.

I thought about dropping it but was "indoors" I believe, in the room I picked it up in, so I could not. I wrongly assumed this was because it was too important and wouldn't let me drop it, and didn't think that it was considering the room I was in just like a seabase where you can't just ditch items on the floor.

If I had taken it outside, I do believe you are correct and I could have dropped it and gotten the blueprints when picking it back up again. Unfortunately by the time I thought of this I had already put it in the main door controller and then realized I needed a second one, which I could not craft.
