Subnautica
Subnautica will not load, Ryzen 2400g Driver 18.5.1 [UPDATE]
Are there any Ryzen 5 2400g users out there that can get this game to load? June 2018, just purchased and the game will not load. Thank you to anyone that can help. And I did read the troubleshooting guide completely. I can see the output log is saying its crashing because of unsupported shader. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

You need to use the 18.6.x version of the drivers, the 18.5.x are broken for Unity games.
@Lil Puppy, thanks for responding. The sad thing is AMD 18.6.x does not support Ryzen 2400g or 2200g. But, I see what you are saying, esp since it says right in the update notes that it fixes a problem causing subnautica to crash.

And I did install 18.6.x and it did not recognize the 2400g and failed to update.

Currently I am searching for older drivers, because I saw some people on you tube playing subnautica with 2400g. So, will update here if I ever get the game to load.

If there is anyone out there, right now with a Ryzen 2400g, and you can get the game to load please please let me know your setup. Thank you.
Ok good news, got the game Subnautica to load. Installed AMD Adrenalin 17.7 and Subnautica loads, and plays just fine.

Ryzen 2400g users here is a basic time line from what I understand.

18.5.x driver updates broke subnautica

18.6.x fixed subnautica but only for AMD dedicated cards, NOT 2400g or 2200g.

Not all driver updates support Ryzen 2400g and 2200g.

17.7.x drivers work with Subnautica.

Seems like AMD is updating drivers for the dedicated GPUs seperate from the APUs. Did some reading online and reports suggest the APUs will only be updated every 4 months. I dont really understand driver optimization, but im sure over time they are working to increase performance for all the games.

Overall, I am really impressed with this little chip, the Ryzen 5 2400g works great with fast RAM (3200 DDR4 in use currently). Sure, you have to overclock and mess with the BIOS to get it to work but thats a fun little mini game.

Hopefully AMD can continute to release good drivers, and improve memory controller support. I really like this chip, however I wish AMD would have done more to help users get faster memory speeds since RAM affects the APU so much.

Ok I hope this helps someone out there untill AMD releases an update that corrects what ever they did in 18.5.x that is for the 2400g family.

Thanks for reading.
Everything up to 18.5.x, and 18.6.x + works for subnautica, though your driver support may vary for your system.
18.6.x AMD drivers, DO NOT work with 2200g or 2400g APUs. Just wanted to say that in case others see this post and need a solution. Currently the only way to play subnautica if you have a Ryzen APU is to load the 17.7 drivers. ( ALSO, if you get an orange water, or color inversion, Disable "full screen optimization" in windows. Go to the subnautica.exe file, right click it, and disable full screen optimization.

The 18.4.x drivers should work if they're available for that hardware.
nahhh they dont lol, its ok the 17.7 drivers work for subnautica.
