[Fixed Update To 18.6.1] Issue with Radeon Driver 18.5.1
I installed the latest Radeon driver today in an attempt to get the game to run stable. However it completely stopped the game from loading for me stating an access violation error. To summarise I have managed to get the game working by doing the following just in case this helps anyone else.

Basically the game was hard locking while using Radeon 18.2.1, as I often don't do the optional updates my machine has been running on that one stable since February (Until this game!) I installed 18.5.1 today which is the latest install... disaster. I have found that running the Guru DDU in safe mode to completely remove the driver and then installing the archived driver version 18.4.1 (again from guru 3d) has so far made the game stable. Now if this lasts or not I'm not sure but at the moment the game is running superbly.

FYI I am running a Powercolor RX 480 Devil 8GB.

EDIT - Thank you @FleetCommand for flagging that this has now been rectified as of version 18.6.1.

Poprin I have the same issue with an RX 580 + Radeon Driver 18.5.1. Tried to report AMD, but their support just replied something that I should clean install my driver while unplugging my network cable, disable antivirus and the other usual things. However, it might be worth reporting the issue via the Issue report form[www.amdsurveys.com]

"Thankfully" not only Subnautica is affected with the buggy driver (for me, Gwent also crashes), so I really hope we can expect some update soon regardless. Until then, I also put 18.4.1 back.

@FleetCommand I think that Gwent is also using the Unity engine the same as Subnautica so it is possible that the driver issue is with the Unity engine. Lets hope that's the case because AMD will fix it quicker!!

Same problem here, i see a black screen with the game build version on the top right then it crashes. I usually don't install drivers as soon as possible, i skipped the previous version hoping this one was more stable... i did it wrong ;)

The game log says

(Filename: C:/Subnautica/plastic_workspace_unity/artifacts/generated/common/runtime/DebugBindings.gen.cpp Line: 51)

Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Crash!!!

I'll revert back, don't know if submitting the crash report to the devs could be useful

Subnautica won't run at all on my Machine with 18.5.1 Drivers.
I contacted AMD and they asked me to send a Video shoving the problem, and also a lot of data on my Hardware, so I think they are working on a fix as we speak.
Also I have reverted to 18.4.1, so I still can play Subnatica

I wish I saw this earlier! I've spent the past 5 hours trying to get this thing to work. I had it working yesterday before I had to reformat due to some stupidity on my behalf. Here I was thinking because I canceled the DXSETUP install when it prompted to install the stypid bing bar spyware and I clicked next not even thinking...

I have an iGPU with an AMD 2400G, 16GB 3200Mhz CL14 Patriot RAM, and before somebody goes "ew, integrated, that's your problem" this thing ran medium quality @ 1080p at 45 fps yesterday.

I can't really rollback because reportedly there's huge gains in performance for the Ryzen iGPUs, and I can't justify sacrificing a 20% boost when Subnautica is the only game out of 30 I have installed that immediately crashes on launch.

I can confirm the issue is with the Radeon 18.5.1 driver but haven't figured out a solution yet other than doing a clean install of an older driver.

I also have problems starting Subnautica and only got a short lasting black screen before being thrown out to desktop again. As this was the first time I have installed and attempted to run the game I did not know if it was driver related so I followed the troubleshooting sticky - verified integrity, reinstall and finally the -force-opengl start argument. The game seem to run fine for me with forced OpenGL rendering so I will stick to that until the problem is solved.

Short computer specs: Ryzen 2700X / 16GB / Vega64 with 18.5.1 drivers / Windows 10 with applied 1803 update

Я неуверен на 100% что дело в драйвере АМД 18.5.1. У меня подозрения на последнее маленькое обновление для Subnautica. У него был маленький размер 9mb.

I'm not 100% sure that it's the AMD 18.5.1 driver. I have a suspicion the last small update for Subnautica. It had a small size of 9 mb.

Sorry my english. Use translator.

No I had this issue before the small update, also the small update was only something to do with GPDR compliance apparently.

As an aside I've absolutely racked up the hours on Subnautica now using driver 18.4.1 and finally been able to enjoy the game without fear of crashing. Absolutely loving it!

It's not fixed with 18.5.2 yet. I think we should wait a little bit more.
