Vehicle upgrade console disappears when I connect it to a base piece

I installed a moonpool to my base (which connected) and the put in the upgrade console (which i can't set up in the part that is already connected. If i installed it while a base piece is attached and it walls off the opening. and if i add the piece later, the console just disappears.
