Weird water glitch
I am suffering from a really annoying water glitch in subnautica, the water is basically gone, i've tried everything from restarting the game to going back to my last save and reloading all the game's assets (debug commands such as: gamereset & entreset). I've verified the integrity of my game cache and everything was all right. I don't know what i should do, i do not want to redo everything because, well this is unplayable. Here's a link to a picture of the problem: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xk06xgttk84zmpb/Screenshot%20%2829%29.png?dl=0

This just happened to me today, on hardcore. while in the cyclops, the game glitched my character outside the cyclops, about 30m, dropping me ontop of the cyclops, pushing it below its crush depth. I was outside the sub, but the game acted as there was no water. As i hysterically tried to figure out a way in, my only option was to fall off. Nearly dying falling to the ocean floor, I was luckily able to jump up near the wall high enough to finally gain access to the cyclops. I powered the engine up, raising it above crush depth, then rushed to fire extinguisher to put out the fires. As I was putting out the fires, my game dropped massively in fps, and I must have walked into the fires, then died. RIP. Not playing this game anymore. That was gamebreaking. I had progressed all the way to the Lava Caves in Hardcore.

I had this happen after going through a portal. Didn't matter if my own body or with Prawn Suit. "Biome Inactivelavart" sort of fixes the water where I can swim again. However, the Prawn Suit still doesn't jump like it does underwater. Even after killing myself and going back to it, the draw distance inside the prawn suit is jacked up and jumping is the same. This really is game breaking.

was diving off the cliff near the alien gun base. heard the sounds of me entering the hab (pressure hiss, water dripping. boots on steel floor) and fell taking damage. was able to walk across the bottom of the sea but could not swim. andall my sounds were indoor sounds. all other water effects were in place. plants, fish. water currents. but i had to walk all the way back to my base. could not swim up to the pod. had to scavenge mats to make a hatch low enough for me to enter the base i had built. the seamoth worked and was parked on the seafloor so i could get in. went exploring to see if it would resolve over time. did not. quit game. verified game files, etc. went back into game. was on the roof of a wreck repairing damage to seamoth and got pushed back by a sandshark. fell into wreck and cannot get out. if i could swim no problem. also, 2nd bug.was gonna cut through the door and walk home again. cut a hole in the door but it won't let me through. says door is locked and to cut it open. pull out laser cutter and it says 100% progress and i see the hole in the door.. so i am stuck in a wreck and cannot get out seamoth is on the roof of the same wreck. took me so long to make progress in this game do not want to start all over. any ideas ? i know in some games the devs can move you a few feet to get you unstuck, which would get me outside and i could walk to the base. but an undersea game with no water is going to be unplayable. beam me up scotty. pleeeease.
Hi, everyone. I would just like to chime in here. I was backtracking my way through the Aurora when I clipped through the floor of the ship and found myself in "water" and stuck in the ship's exoskeleton. Through some frantic blind clipping, I was able to get out of it and make it back to my ship. However, all water visuals were gone and all lighting effects were gone - meaning I could see everything. It was like a cheat code lol. Restarting the client did nothing. I found this page and I can confirm that swimming into the Alien moonpool fixed my problem! I can play again yay! :)

Why does everyone keep necro-ing 2016-era subnautica threads.
Glad it worked, The alien moonpool was really weird (and still is), and caused a lot of glitches back in the day. I'd still like to see a bug update or two in this game... still enough to make it mildly frustrating, even though it isn't crashing nearly as much since 2016.

Because the game isn't fixed and keeps bugging out. Why are you asking why people are necroing threads when they are still relevant?

I was walking in my base, and randomly fell through the floor, taking damage because I fell all the way down onto what was my current floor in the ocean. I can't swim up to my base, even though I am submerged in water, and I'm not losing any oxygen. I don't have any materials to build with to unbug myself. I was hoping I could build a compartment and a hatch, but I have nothing to build with.

I’ve encountered this bug plenty of times myself in just one game. Each time I could only fix it by spawning in supplies and making a compartment and hatch and then entering that, which then reminded the game of the laws of physics.
