Pod items cannot be picked up (experimental)
I'm not sure how recent this issue is, but in experimental, I am unable to pick up any items in the destroyed pods - the high capacity air tank, the compass, and I think one other thing. When I move the cursor over, I get the hand, but there's no indication when I click. The item isn't picked up and there's no error message (and there's plenty of room in my inventory).

Tried deleting cache, closing the game and reopening, verifying game integrity, etc.

3 things worth noting (possibly related bugs):
1 - I just discovered from reading online that you can explore the Aurora. I'm ~20 hours in, so wondering if I could have bugged the timeline of events. I've explored two islands, seen the rescue ship get shot down, and found ~5 pods, so not sure if there is a bug in progression causing it (have to explore Aurora before the pod items 'unlock').
2 - When the game first loads, I often have trouble actually selecting to start the game because of some sort of overlay on the news/online store panel to the right of the load game/new game/etc selection. The button will highlight, but clicking does nothing. After interacting with the news panel I can select to load the game. Not sure if a similar mechanism is in play.
3 - One of the standard lockers in one of my bases does not show me its content. The PDA GUI shows up, but the content of the PDA screen element is blank - no squares, no inventory items, and I can only close it by moving out of range of the locker (not via controller button). I can't deconstruct it and have no idea what's in it now (though it did have stuff in it). I'm not sure if it might contain the items from the pods.

Might be due to changes over the past ~2 months, since I took a break after my mobo died. Had no problems with picking up items or the locker a couple months ago. I might just need to make a fresh game.

Anyhow, keep up the good work.

Just a follow up.

Started a new game and still can't pick up story items found in/near damaged pods.

You didn't do anything wrong, the experimental branch is jsut buggy. Once you find the containers for the blueprints (which say what is supposed to be inside), just grant yourself that blueprint in the console.

Hit Esc to pause the game
Hit F3 to open the configuration
Hit F8 which opens the bug report screen but also unlocks the mouse
In the F3 configuration tick Disable Console then untick it
Hit tilde (it's the key to the left of the number 1 and below the Esc key)
Type, for example, unlock highcapacitytank and hit enter.

(I think that's the correct name for that blueprint).

Thanks much. Wanted to make sure I wouldn't bug out the progression by just granting items.

The only time I ever got bugged out was when I tried to spawn the model Aurora spaceship and place it in my "bedroom" in my base. I am not sure if it was that either because I think somehow Steam tried to update Subnautica while I was playing and that caused the black screaan crash.
