CRAZY BUG/GLITCH at precursor gun area
Hi guys, here is a picture i have attached where i'm doing a quest to go to the energy pulse origin but i can't access the area at all due to this entire stretch of place being hollow and transparent + i can walk through it and fall to the bottom (most of the time i die or i get stuck down there). Anyone experiencing this?? http://imgur.com/a/AT6dw

Sounds like you need to reload your environment. Go into you savegame folder in Steam\steamapps\common\subnautica\SNAppData and whatever you current save it at. Delete all of the files in CellsCache and CompiledOctreesCache. Don't worry, you won't lose your base or anything else you have built. I do it myself regularly. Once back in the game, perform a save and then go check the cannon to see if everything looks normal. BTW, are you in Stable or Experimental?

in stable this works as well. i had this problem in the past as well but with the aurora. i fixed it as i switch to freecam and then back. the textures loading in and i could explore the rest

May i know how do you switch it to freecam mode?


open the console and type freecam. then do it again to switch back

I have the same issue and you can walk right in to that area.
Before the gun shoots the area is fine. After the scene -> broken

Just guessing, but it looks like it might maybe be a LOD loading issue? When I approach the islands from the surface, the LOD loads the parts backward, so parts of the alien interior load before the island terrain. This makes me suspect that if the alien structure is approached and entered underwater from the right/wrong angle, the island terrain and parts of the interior never load at all because you never crossed the key draw distance threshold before entering the interior. Basically, you sequence break the draw distance, maybe also causing occlusion culling to misunderstand what the player should and shouldn't be able to see, and the whole thing falls apart.


What graphic quality setting are you playing the game on? I'm playing on low (my graphics card burned out recently, so I'm currently running the game on an integrated Intel HD 4000 chip, believe it or not), and the one "quality" setting appears to raise/lower the LOD draw distance along with everything else. I suspect if I were playing on a higher setting, the island terrian would load when I'm further away (I'm pretty sure it's supposed to load before the fog bank unloads, but it doesn't on low setting). If I'm right about the above, this might mean that whether one experiences this bug or not is at least party dependant on what graphics level you're playing on, as with the draw distance set further out, you wouldn't be able to enter the moon pool without crossing the draw distance threshold.

It would be easy to test, at least.

I think it's because I was in the building before the "building" moved and fired at the spaceship.
I did that: Go into you savegame folder in Steam\steamapps\common\subnautica\SNAppData and whatever you current save it at. Delete all of the files in CellsCache and CompiledOctreesCache.
stuff and it seems to fixed it.
I could explore it, all was back to normal.

Have you been also in the building before it moved?

Yeah i think i went to the building before the gun activated and shifted the building's position. However i don't think i went very far in to have noticed there was a graphical bug at the area. I probably only took a few steps inside the precursor base before making my way out again to explore the cave outside. Also i haven't been playing this game for a few days now since am quite busy thus have yet to try out the solutions you guys offered. Thanks for those solutions though, will try it out and update you guys again!!
