What is the best place for base?
I grew bored of building bases in grassy plateaus

A nice, big, flat terrain in the north-west edge of the mushroom forest (furthest away from the Aurora), where there is a long mountain to the right of it and a trench in front of it going down to the Blood Kelp Zone. Absolutely beautiful spot for a base, it's where I built mine before I accidentally deleted my save. RIP
thanks for suggestion

Good spot, that is the most convenient entrance to the Lost River IMHO

Ok. For me the best place for a base is the cyclops.

The second best is near the big volcano in the shallows. There is even a depression where you will place the cyclops exit while it is parked on top of the volcano, recharging while you are busy elsewhere.

That’s actually genius

Thanks for that!

I am currently sitting on building my base in the Lost River, but forgot to bring salt deposits with my Hoarder (Clops) :(
And they are not present down there.

So I'll go back up to the Safe Shallows with the whole Clops, get salt deposits and build the Thermal Reactor for to recharge it right there. :D

In the meanwhile I'll follow my main task to gather salt and magnetite for the Hoarder (too many lockers are empty :() with the Prawn Stonks.
It has 3 storage upgrades and the depth module. ^^

I had to go to the mountains, as I failed to find a fragment for the grappling arm elsewhere.
I found one piece in a wreck in the blood kelp zone near the great reef.
ONE PIECE! Everything else was drill arms and torpedo arms.
Not sure what the RNG was thinking there.

There was a nice wreck with tons of grappling arms in the Mountains and the thermal reactor blueprint in a data box.

I did not meet any reapers on my way there. :wellok:

My go to base location in most of my game runs is on the edge of the dunes. Big flat area with heat vents nearby for power only bad part is some runs a warper spawns right there and can be annoying until pacified. The trench to the left goes to the lost river and is probably the fastest and safest route to the cove tree (no ghost leviathan but some runs can have a crab squid along the way).

cove tree

Cove tree is super far away from many areas tho. Imo a underwater islands base could be really useful

Can you make a water machine? That will generate salt for you.

Thanks, but I've moved on to the lava lakes already. :steamhappy: Was a bit quicker getting the Clops back up to the Shallows and do a resource run with the Prawn for salt and especially for lithium and magnetite (Jellyshroom caves).

All I need now is more titanium, so I'll head back to the inactive lava zone for these resources.

There's more magnetite in the blue brine around the Cove Tree.

But no nodes to drill on, right?
I only found these in the Jellyshroom caves. :wellok:

True, the only drillable magnetite is in the jellyshroom cave. But there's plenty to pick up around the Cove Tree. If you're coming up from the lava lakes that's a much shorter trip.

Well, I was in for salt, lithium and magnetite and to reload the clops on the volcano in the safe shallows (which didn't work that well as I had to go away quite far stopping to trigger the volcano).
Later I went for some extra titanium to the crash site. So it was overall worth it.
Even though I've too much magnetite now. ^^

I've already reached the lava lakes and I am nonly up for some more titanium, which is easy to get in the inactivate lava zone.
