Seamoth stuck in open water
I was moving to and from the escape pod and my base when something happened and my seamoth ended up stuck in place in the open water, trying to make it rotate around can make it jiggle a little in place but nothing else.

Restarting my game didn't do anything to help, and I'd saved it before I realised just how serious this was so I couldn't just sacrifice half an hour or so of gameplay to rollback and save it. Searching for possible fixes suggested trying to propulsion cannon to try and move it, but it didn't react in the slightest, and everything else was for beached seamoths or where they've managed to get stuck under the ground, and I couldn't find anything that could help.

When taking photos of the issue I noticed that there appears to be what I can only describe as an invisible stalactite sticking out of the upwards pointing part of the seamoth going straight up to the water's surface, but whether that was always there and I somehow got stuck on it through bad luck or it somehow manifested after I got stuck I have no idea.

yes it's pointing almost exactly down, it wasn't straight away but during my attempts to jiggle it free from whatever it's caught on caused it to slowly point down, I think it also slowly pointed down on it's own as well over time when I wasn't sat in it.

Is there any suggestions for saving it or do I need to bite the bullet and build a new seamoth?

Is your power cell dead? If so get a charged one and swap it.

96% charge, it is very much a case of the seamoth has got stuck on something that shouldn't exist there.

You could try using a propulsion gun to move it.
I did try the propulsion gun, it didn't even react to it.

Bummer. That's all I got.

I have only played vanilla (no mods) and have never encountered your problem through several playthroughs.
The first time I got my seamoth stuck on a beach I just made a new one. Found out later a way to move it from beach.

If nobody has any other ideas I'd just make a new one.

Maybe try ramming it with a Cyclops, just thought of that! lol

if you have a cyclops you could try parking close above it and getting in the seamoth, maybe it'll trigger the docking if you're close enough.

save before the attempt just in case anything weird happens.
Right, well, update on this situation.

I built a cyclops and tried to collect the seamoth. It didn't go well. Because of this invisible stalactite went all the way up to the surface of the water, I couldn't park the cyclops above to try and collect it, and in attempting such, the seamoth suffered from sudden unexpected kinetic disassembly from unintended contact between the seamoth and the cyclops. Annoyingly, after the seamoth blew up from me crashing into it a couple times, the cyclops proximity detection system was still shouting at me about there being something there, and I even rammed into it with the cyclops, despite nothing visually being there.

Wow!
Do you use any mods?
