Anyone else think the Gasopod fart range is a bit on the too far side?

I mean I get that's their defense and all but it's strange as all hell watching a gasopod from a pretty far distance and watching/hearing it see you and do its fart, when I'm nowhere even near a distance that could even constitute a threat.

I realize their original 'aggro' distance was insanely point blank but this seems like it's on the complete opposite spectrum.

I agree on this. Every time I see a group of gasopod, they're always surrounded by a big cloud of death. Can't really seem to see what triggers their defense other than me staring at them. Could be a stray fish or something, but then that would be a little ridiculous gameplay-wise.

I've never seen them respond to the fish, and if that's true, just from a standpoint of nature, there is no reason for something so big to be afraid of fish, us I can KIND of understand, 'OH WTF IS THAT THING*farts*', they just do it at a range that just makes me lift an eyebrow at them though.

The only thing I could see them responding to would be stalkers but seeing a stalker anywhere near a gasopod is so damn rare seeing as the only real nature interaction I've seen is stalkers hunting down fish for food.

the devs have just toned down the scare distance and amount for the next update on their trello page! YAY!!!!!!

WHAT?!? They are totally Adorable. The only reason they move the metal is because they want you to follow them so they can give you some "sugar". The real jerks are those crashes, the exploding cave fish. They are total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

Maybe there's an aquatic overmind that oversees and directs all the smaller marine organisms. It saw the ship as an infestation that needs to be cleaned up, which it then directs all the predators to take up the scrap metal and dump it deeper in the ocean where it'll eventually be buried into the earth.

That or they're going to make a really blinged up nest to attract mates.

this subnautica team is spoiling us ! :) witnessing the interaction between the steam forum and the devs - fast fixes for player requests and updates pouring in constantly ... makes me want to drag the developers of some other early access games i own in here and let them watch in realtime what early access should be like. :) kudos to the subnautica devs for making this early access fun.
